Can Anyone Answer this

This is something i have always wondered

why after a horse has had a cut does the hair grow back white?
i hope you don't think its a stupid question.

do they? my horses hair grows back the same colour if they have an old cut

If the hair follicle is damaged they tend to grow back white - so things like ill-fitting tack that presses and rubs will cause white bits.
Ordinary cuts tend not to damage the follicles so much.

What chicomio said sounds correct. But I was thinking if you think about yourself scar tissue is often white, so this could be similar.
