Can anyone else not be bothered riding with this weather?

I've had enough, too. I'm forcin myself to ride round the block a few times a week but the ground is so slippy and dangerous and the horses are bored. I took a batch show jumping at the weekend. Only did a class each as they are totally unfit, but it was wonderful to be in a proper school and they were up for it!

It's awful.

I went to ride on monday, but the min I thought I'd be safe, It'd pour down. Then I'd go and do a job, and It has stopped.
So off I go, and get the headdcollar, by the time I have done that, down it comes agin.

Plus the fact the mare wasn't having any of it when I tried to catch her.

I just gave it up as a bad job.

I hate England.

I haven't ridden since the end of November :((just as the "great snow" began oop north).

I wasn't too fussed at first but am starting to really miss it now, but with the dark nights, a stinking cold, poorly children and a mega busy time at work (tax returns!!), I really don't have the time.

So mine are being fed and watered etc, but other than that they are left to mooch in the field.
Come the 1st Feb I am gearing myself up to start riding again on a weekend and doing some in-hand/trec work and clicker training on an evening. Just need to send my Trec competition entry off for March to give me something to aim for.

Roll on the spring:rolleyes:

I don't really have any excuses either as we have an indoor school :o Planning to get on her this evening and do some schooling but right now I just really can't be bothered :(

Every morning 6:45 till 7:15 just half hour in the school after muck out but before commute to work. Hacking and jumping (small fences) at weekends has now resumed as the ground is finally softer than the horses legs! The spotties do alternate mornings.

The old dear is just hacking at weekends and 20 mins in school 1 weekday evening though. Just daren't risk her 31 y/o legs on the hard/wet ground in poor light. She had quite a bit of time off while it was icey, she doesn't move her feet too quickly these days and wouldn't catch herself well if she slipped.

I would mortgage my soul for an indoor school!!!

I rode out in the pouring rain and wind last week, normally wouldn't choose to after waiting for the snow to melt, then the ice, then missing the day when it's been frosty as well as a frozen school, I thought sod it, I'm off in this, actually quite enjoyed myself, if a little soggy and wind swept...along with chest infection and flu!

oh thank god it isn't just me. I was so looking forward to the snow going, and then that went, I just started to get some get up and go and then got flu.... now with the rain I am feeling very guilty that we haven't done an awful lot, especially since my girl doesn't do rain, so won't go out in it.

ditto all the above comments, i have one bored TB who is that bored he is now getting naughty!!! lol
i ride one evening and really get a feel for it and then dont ride again for another week because its too cold, then sit at home feeling very guilty!
i have no excuse as we have a huge all weather arena, floodlit, so i cant even sit here and say there is no where to school!
so yes im one of the guilty ones that needs a kick up the a*@ and be told to get on my horse! (but when i think how much he costs me a month then i seem to get a bit more motivated as i cannot afford a ornament this big! lol)

Wet=big puddles which makes so much fun splashing though them!! Esp when mine wouldnt go though the water complex last xc!! Making the most of them to build his confiendece up!! Downside is when you get back you got a very dirty horse and tack caked in mud!! But it's worth it!!! :)

We've been frozen solid since 27th November so at least I don't feel guilty! Can't even get them in as yard to slippy. Mind you have put on mega weight

Haven't had the motivation to ride much recently but off to ride the madam tonight now that I've got some new batteries for my lights :)

Rode everyday over xmas, think about 8 or 9 days on the go, rode saturday jumped at Hargate Sunday, off to ride in a while, whats the weather got to do with anything ?:p

Once our yard had thawed out I rode 6 days in a row over new Year. I was so chuffed, horse was getting back into it. 3 days back at work and Saturday it was raining and Sunday too icy! Ok well I thought at least I have RC rally Tuesday (yesterday) at an indoor... Cue me getting this wretched Norovirus!!! Can't even get up to drive the car let alone ride the horse... :(

I am fed up!!!

Glad there are other people who don't ride in the crap weather. I am more than happy to ride in the freezing cold (providing there is no ice). I really don't enjoy riding in the rain, it wrecks my leather saddle, soggy miserable horse and it isn't good to put a dry rug on a wet horse.

Yep totally agree, stupid weather! I hate january as it is, Im tired all the time at the mo, there is mud EVERYWHERE, its cold, wet, dark, the list goes on..... LOL!!

I would love to ride but the school is full of water and the bridleways are full of water as well...will probably have to head out on the roads in the rain again- trouble is my mare spooks at spilled petrol in the rain because it's rainbow coloured:rolleyes:this is very scary apparently, whereas level crossings, sheep, cows, buses and massive tractors pulling huge trailers are fine...plus point of the weather is that she will now walk through puddles, which used to be a big problem:)
