taz has 2 in exactly the same place and they stick out like a lump under his skin and you can feel them individually if you touch the lump... i have never seen this before but he has always been like it, no other horse i have owned have ever done this

they probably dont work anymore due to being so close to the surface and was thinking about getting him done again but then he would have 3 micro chips and it all gets a bit silly :o

so can anyone else see or feel their horses micro chips?

No but it is common in cats and dogs to feel the chip.. It shouldn't make a difference whether it is close to the skin surface - it should still work fine!! The only thing to watch out for is if it migrates further and actually grows out of the skin!

its not moved at all in the 8 years i have owned him so i dont expect it will move now... my dogs has moved down to his elbow but that hasnt moved in years either :)

Yes! I brought a Dutch warm blood almost 3 weeks ago now and I can feel his. It almost feels like a little nat bite. The vet scanned it when I had him vetted and his still works. :)
