Can anyone guess what was wrong with this pony.

Snake?

I had a horse completely trash its stable trying to dig out a snake that was hiding under one wall, looking terrified. In Canada though so bigger and more snakes

I was on the muck heap whilst poo picking the fields at a friends place, when a snake slithered out of the muck heap and over my boots. I grabbed it and photographed it, it was 38" long, put her back on the muck heap to go about her business and within a few mins, she'd gone. At certain times of the year they hatch out in the muck heap, which is also full of toads and you see loads of baby grass snakes that are about 6" long slithering out and off into the woods to find food.

Last year our Mini Shetland suddenly started refusing to go anyway near his shelter, a Hedgehog had taken up residence in there. When he saw one walking about outside he was petrified.

WE do have snakes here, but so far no interaction with the horse. We have a pond and my husband's pride and joy was the group of Moorhens. My naughty horse caught one of them in his field, stalked, chased and stomped it in the head, killing it dead. My husband was devastated.
I was not so devastated when he again stalked, chased and stomped to death the BIG RAT that tried to cross his turnout paddock a few weeks ago :-)

WTF! I have never in my life saw a wild snake. I'm in Warwickshire, maybe they dont like it here! I dont really mind pet snakes but I think I would be so scared if I saw one in my stable!!

Im in Warks too we have loads in summer just like the one pictured. Your more than welcome to come and have a look! Our Jack Russel got hold of one in his mouth, he looked like some Mexican with a long moustache waving about!! :D:D

The other day I went to put the horses out and my share horse's head wasn't over the door waiting to greet me as usual. The last time that happened with a horse of mine was when my old boy had colic so I was a bit scared to look over the door. When I did, he was pinned at the back of his stable looking terrified. A quick investigation revealed the reason why. One of the farm chickens had got into his hay bar! She was obviously too scared to get out of there and he was too scared to go and eat! There was a very strange shaped egg in there too! We check all the hay bars every night now just in case!
