My poor old lorry may have to go to the great garage in the sky.

It's an old "MANN" lorry.

The rear axel is gone and the lorry garage are saying they can't find a new one (though they are still looking) and can't fix the old one. I don't really trust any garages nowadays so don't know if that sounds realistic or not ? The old lorry is a write off if I can't find the part :(

Thanx for any help.

I would try looking up a local comercial transmission place who could repair yours or truck breakers for a second hand one there is WJ furber at prees industrial estate whitchurch
they are big truck dismantlers hope that helps...

There is a scrapyard/lorry graveyard near Tring - they advertise in the back of Dog and Donkey - we have had all sorts from them over the years, and very reasonable. Only thing, you need to remove what you want yourself from the carcases. If you ring and say what you want, though, he'll tell you if it's there.

Try www.findapart.com

Don't phone the hotline as it is (or used to be) £1 a minute. Just fill out the basic web form giving details of the exact part you're looking for and sit and wait. I used this website a lot in the past for parts for old vehicles.

It links through to garages and scrap dealers. If you haven't had any calls after about 30mins, put it on again. I used to get about 30 phone calls within 10 mins of adding my request! Don't know whether it's still like that now!

Hubby says try Garrett Commercials Sparkford (Somerset).
Cringe to tell you he parted with a lorry for spares only Sunday with matching axle - but they can still be found so dont give up yet. He says he will ask around.
Also its prob 8.163 not 8.136? (stand to be corrected!)

NO!!! DOn't google MAN parts - I did some years ago when I was trying to work out whether to buy one (lorry that is). It was an eye opener to say the least!

Another one for the Lorry breaker in Tring, (number in H &H). l go there often for parts, they have always got the parts off for me :)
He has hundreds of old lorries so would be worth a try
