Hi all
Just wondering if anyone can help me, I bought an 'ex-racer' in december and the lady i got jim off said he had raced in NH. She had him brought over from ireland but he turned out to be to sharp for her. On his passport he's not named or anything, just a description of him. Not really bothered if he hasn't or has raced just would like to be able to find a history for him. Tried looking up his breeder but not getting anywhere!! Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Would getting in touch with weatherbys with his passprt number be my best bet? X

I think she is having you on, either that or he didn't come with his original passport. If he raced he has to have a name!

Thats what i thought, if he didn't have a name then he hasn't raced but hearing conflicting stories so got all confused! He's just 'bay gelding' bless him. Not bothered at all whether he has or not just would be nice to know where he came from and what he has been used for so far! If anything! His breeder is Alan Stanfield. Thanks for replies so far :)

I'm not a racing expert but as far as I know Flapper races are local races not licensed by the jockey club or any other licensing authority usually held in fields or on the beaches.

Sorry to go off topic but Cuppatea what is flapping?

this. They are flat races as oppposed to over jumps and un-licenced and un-approved of by the racing authorities! Any horse can do it, they dont have to be named or registered with any breed/authority and if they are they dont even have to race under their real name, you could race them as 'fred' or whatever. Lots of real racehorses from the flat are sold to go flapping (prize money is pretty good!) and lots of horses that are too small for proper racing go down that route but all unofficially of course....!
