Hello,

Can anyone help me think of a show name for my youngster? Rising 3 tri-coloured gelding. Stable name Billy. My hope that he will go on to do a bit of eventing. I have a couple names on the short list but any suggestions would be grately appreciated. Hopfully I've manged to attach his picture successfully.

Thank you

A few clues will help, his breeding, temperament, the ones you already have just to give us an idea of what type of name you are looking for, he is a smart boy.

He's lovely! He has stockings and white at the top of his neck like a wig, so how about something 18th century like Beau Regard or Pimpernel?

he's WB X. He was very nervous when I took him on (less than 1 year ago). He wouldn't even let me touch him! I now have his trust and he has become a very affectionate, polite horse with so much to give. He's very smart and loves to learn. He was a bit of a gamble as we really didn't know if we would ever win him over but luckily we have :) Couple of names that have been suggested are, Billy the Kid, Tri-B-Bold, Fourpenny Bill (Fourpenny is the name of our croft) and By The Book. I'm just looking for as many suggestions as possible, a name is so important.

Thanks

A good name is important, I like something that has a meaning or that reflects the personality.

Using the croft name Fourpenny Bold/ Brave/ Belief/ Faith/ Future
Bold Gamble
Brave Gamble
Just A Gamble
Lucky Gamble
Just as Smart
Just B Smart

A few to be going on with.
Must go and update my naming thread.

You say that he was nervous and scared when you first got him and now you have his trust... There is a famous story from Greek Mythology about two people called Pythias and Damon who gained their friendship through trust in each other, Pythias gained Damon's trust when she helped him through a hard time in his life - they later became Greek patrons of 'trust & friendship'. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damon_and_Pythias)

Bearing that and your journey together in mind, what about something like: Pythias' Fourpenny (you being the trust giver 'Pythias' and him being Fourpenny)

It sounds posh and it has a meaning to you two :)

BTW - Pythias is pronounced Pie-Thigh-Us

He looks very smart, nice markings too. Unless he has a particular patch of black somewhere we can't see, he's a bay tobiano not a tri colour, how about Fourpenny Bay?

Oh I didn't realise that Bobbly :o He just has black on his hocks and white and black mane and tail. Thanks for keeping me right! He is my first coloured.
