Hi all

I hope you can help. A friend of mine has just had a change in personal circumstances means that she will be returning to live in Wormit (her non-horsey family live there) within the next 6 months or so.

I am hoping you might be able to help with suggestions of people to contact regarding livery for her horses. she currently has a 16.3 retired police horse, a 15.2 Arab and a welsh Sect A, (the latter of which, due to the circumstances she is now presently trying to re-home) - all are geldings, well behaved and easy to live with.

Ideally she is looking to find someone who would be interested in exchanging stables/space in a barn and grazing for yard duties or similar. (she will only be working part-time - 2 days per week so ideal for anyone looking for help around the yard in return for stabling)

She is an ex-mounted officer so is honest and reliable.

For practicality the ideal location would be within a 15 minute drive of Wormit (DD6 8LA) in the first instance, although further afield would be considered.

Please reply, or PM me if you have any suggestions. I am about to contact NE Fife RC and Fife RC for help.

Many thanks

I was brought up in the next village (Newport-on Tay) so perhaps I know her? I didn't have horses until I left home so don't know all the options but the yard at Guardbridge (SJing based I think - Edenbridge?) would be within 15mins. I also rode a horse for some people at Kinshaldy in Tentsmuir Forest (right on the beach :D, and near to Craigie XC course) which is definitely still there as I passed it walking the dogs at Xmas. Facilities weren't great but there was a school and absolutely unlimited off road hacking.

I'm sure other people are more current than me but there used to be livery here too www.lindoresxc.co.uk

Let me know if I can help any further.

Fab, thanks for the suggestions so far, will get her to get in touch.

I did think that she should find somewhere in exchange for work,

Think I'd quite like that myself :D, would love to get someone to bring my hosses in every night at 3pm so they are dry for me to ride!

I'm hopeless with geography so can't picture what your friend would be near; Fife's pretty big!

There is K A Equestrian; they are full livery only but they were looking for help on the yard so that might work out?

Might be worth a call to Loch Leven Equine Vets, Tay Valley vets and any others that happen to be near by as they usually know all the yards.

I would think Loch Leven would be too far away but Provost certainly cover the area - I used to work as a receptionist for them when I was 14!

TPO - Wormit's at the other end of the Tay Rail Bridge from Dundee. The local secondary school is Madras in St. Andrews and Cupar's about the same distance. I should think anything Newport/Tayport/Leuchars/Cupar/NW edge of St. A's/country east of Newburgh would be close enough.

HI

All I can suggest is
Howe at Ladybank
Edenside at Guardbridge
Think Kinshaldy have stable not sure about livery
Ovenstone north of Pittenween
Hilton Hill north of Glenrothes
Lochoars at Drumcarrow
Kinaldy near St Andrews
Muirhead Nr St Andrews

hope this helps - not got personal experience of many
hope she gets somewhere
