I am currently bringing on a lovely little mare, and she is doing really well. The problem is that she incestently shakes her head. She puts it down to almost her knees and then shakes it from side to side very powerfully, almost unseating me!

I have had the dentist to look at her teeth/mouth, and have tried different bits. It is such a shame as she is a lovely girl. The shaking normally comes during a transition, she settles a bit in canter, but it is worse in trot?

Hi, I know you have said you have had a dentist, (some are BEVA qualified and some are not, I dont know who you had, and did he put bitseats in?) my husband is one of the qualified lot and often suggest to clients that they ride (in a safe place i.e. a school) in a headcollar or a hackamore. This should show straight quite clearly whether it is shaking it due to the bit contact with teeth etc. As it is during transitions, tends to indicate mouth, as headshaker will do it fairly constantly whatever gait you are in. If still shaking bitless, another consideration is saddle fit, this you can also test by if you dont want to do bare back, possibly borrow a treeless. Best of luck jackie
