I have been given a 4yrs mare. Which was a trotting pony. She is really sweet. However, until I started to ride her, she has never been in a open bridle. She has either trott or 30mph trott. She is afraid of busses lorrys, leaves, not too bad with cars. After yesterday ending up, up a steep embankment, twice because of a bus and a lorry coming towards us. Today I thought I would walk her in hand through lots of leaves and on a kerb on a main road. & my plan is to do this a couple of times a week.
She freaked today at a dustbin lorry and a bus coming up behind us. I circled her and she was ok. I do not have a field near a main road and do not have a lorry.
Please I'm I doing the right thing walking her in hand to get her used to the noise and traffic.
