Can anyone name this bit?

I *think* it's missing another loose ring somehow. If it is, you attach cheekpieces to one ring, reins to the other and it works on squeezing the horse's cheeks iirc. The name escapes me though

It looks like a Wilson snaffle but with one of the rings missing. Very odd.

No idea! and the seller has no idea either i see. 'Bridle thingy' 'pointy bits' haha.
Sorry i have no idea though, very weird, it doesnt look like the extra ring should be on there

originally it was a driving bit but I cant for the life of me remember what its called. Begins with a c? Cornish snaffle??? We used them on the hunters in Brigstock while doing fittening work.

definately a wilson 4 ring, with a ring missing. They did often break as many of the old ones are nickel based, and people would often clip a lead rope to the inner ring to tie the horse up. If the horse pulled back, the ring would snap.

It's not a cornish snaffle (other name-scourier or scourrier/ scorrier) as the inner rings pass through a slot in the mouth piece.

Wilson Snaffle - rings are completely loose and able to slide inwards with no restriction

Scourier or Cornish, rings are loose inside a slot with a ribbed mouth

At the risk of starting a fight here.............!

It is most definately not a scourier or cornish snaffle. Someone has already correctly posted a photo of one of these a couple of posts up.

It is a wilson four ring snaffle. Well it used to be, now it's a Wilson three ring!! ;)
