My dog has started barking when we are in the car, every time she sees another dog. She goes nuts and she has such a loud bark it's deafening! Also, I'm worried about the summer, as if the car windows are open the people outside the car will hear her

She isn't soing it in an agerssive way, I don't think. She doesn't seem to have an aggressive bone in her body, bless her, but it's just so LOUD! Any ideas for stopping her? Have tried distracting her when I see a dog, which works when there are two people in the car, but not so good on your own!

Any advice appreciated

Saw this once on Tv and the dog trainer ( It's me or the dog) blocked out the windows and they stopped! After a while she was able to take down the screens and the dogs didn't bark again. Seemed a bit of a faff but worked. She left a gap at the top so that her mirror was still effective I think.
Best of luck either way.

Thanks

I had wondered if that would work but didn't want to have to block up the windows on a permanent basis! If it works and you can take them down after a while I might give that a go

You could try crating her and put a blanket over the crate?

Or you could buy those silver sun guards and put them up? I believe they are moveable............

She'd howl if I put her in a crate and covered it up and that would be even more irritating! Lol

What are the silver sun guard things? I've not seen those before...

We used a spray collar on the advice of a trainer for the same problem with Dom - worked a treat and took very little time to stop

Put her in the back seat of the car with her leash on. One of you sits in the back with her. The moment she starts to bark, you check the leash sharply sideways, and firmly say "Tsch!" You do this every time she does this - do not reward her; ignore her when she is not barking but be ready to react immediately when she does. This is Cesar's way and it works!
