Ok well basically, atm rock is jumped in a dutch gag on the middle ring - hes jumped in this because hes just too strong in any of the others i've tried in (kk, various snaffles) and also very very wooden in most bits. However i find in this bit i have very huge difficulties steering as he just falls out through his shoulder and he also tuck his head in so much into his chest and leans so much that im getting very little control.
So was wondering if anyone could recommend a bit to jump in, for a horse that leans and falls out through his shoulder a lot, but that isnt too strong as hes a very sensitive lad as well and tends to back off sometimes.

what about a fulmer. these are good for turning. not sure about how much brakes youd have though lol. if not a waterford is good for braking

Have tried a fulmer snaffle and hes soooooo wooden and heavy on my hands in it i just have no hope of turning or stopping or anything. Have also tried a hanging cheek which hes the same in and his flatwork bit is a kk but cant jump in this as then he'll get very heavy in it for flatwork lol

I think you need to do a lot of flatwork if he really is as wooden as you say. For falling out thru his shoulders as a quick fix I would put spurs on you need to get him to move away from your leg when he tries to escape thru his shoulder. It sounds like he is really on his forehand.

Hi, have u tried a bit with a curb? i have a horse that works v light on the flat in a hanging cheek but is a toally different horse when it comes to jumping!!! he becomes incredibly strong but like ur horse is sensitive in the mouth, i tried a pelham but this was a little to much. i have now got him in a kimblewick and it is absolutley perfect, recommend trying it. Good luck.

Hmm i'd recommend the bit Super_Kat created the one with two spoons, bailing twine and the barbed wire. May make some kind of improvement.

Tongue in cheek I think...

well im going to be the mature one about it and walk away! regardless. I dont need to justify myself, you might go running to admin again.

I would try flatwork schooling, more leg and use your seet so the horse is up into your hand.

Yourleg is what you should be using to steer with, not the bit.
