My horse has a sarcoid on his tummy (underneath, just behind the girth) and I've been told to keep it protected from flies.. can anyone suggest a fly sheet that doesn't rub and has a full neck and belly wrap? He's 16hh and has quite wide shoulders... Thanks

Would recommend the Rambo Fly Buster, brought one for my cob last Summer, wraps with three straps underneath, comes complete with a detachable neck, and a good sized tail flap, with elastic strap to thread the tail through....quite pricy at £70 approx, but worth every penny! Very robust for bum scratchers! Will buy another this year so I have two!

My horse gets sweetitch, but it is her belly and chest that really get the worst of it. This year she is wearing a boett. They are expensive, but they are the only one the vets and the insurance company recommend (they paid for it !). It comes in two sections. The body including the neck which is a tube you pull over the head and a T shape that wraps around the body covering the complete belly and between the front legs.

I don't know of they still do them but Comfort Zone used to make a nice quality fly rug that had a belly pad and full neck. I had one ( bought second hand) but had to sell it last year as it didn't fit either of mine

I have also had other makes of fly rug pass through my hands as well ( again didn't fit either of my boys, wish there was consistency in rug sizes!) and out of all of them the Comfort Zone impressed me the most.

That was the rug modelled by our cob when we sold it last year. The rug measured around the 6ft 9 mark but was too big for Mcfly and sadly just too small for the big lad

The belly pad which you cannot see under the horse was pretty generous in its size.
According to their website you can still get the rug in a size small from them for £29.99 at a discounted price as the rrp was a lot higher than that before, at here comfort zone

I bought mine from ebay 2 years ago so if you did like them you may be able to find some on there. They do wash really nice as well. The fabric is closely woven and strong whilst being fairly lightweight and not heavy, compared to other fly rugs I have had.

I recommend the Bucas fly sheet, my boy has an old one with no belly covering but I think the new ones have one

In the summer my boy comes across and tries to put his own on

I have a Bucas- got it at Bramham last year. It has a full tummy flap, a really long neck and is made from really soft mesh. It's ace, and doesn't rub my TB at all.

OH's mare needs a belly one - we bought a Mark Todd off ebay last year and was very good - almost like a mesh leotard (stretchy) with belly and neck cover in a very fetching silver colour to reflect the sun off - did a good job on her even if she does look a bit strange

I agree that the Rambo ones are good - and last a while. My mare likes hers.
And one to avoid - the 'Olympian Bye Fly' - I bought one with a hood for my girl, but it doesn't stay straight on her, or any of my others, and by the end of a day is hanging off her side with the flies and midges feasting on her bare side. I've tried it on my others and it does exactly the same....
