Im looking for an instructor for my OH.
Ive taught him the basics but to be honest its like teaching someone to drive and now he wants to learn to jump etc but just answers me back when I tell him stuff lol.

So can anyone recommend a good instructor for novices (county durham) ? He is a lot more confident than he used to be but is still quite nervous if the horse does 'something'.

Im also unsure about which horse to give him for when he learns to jump.

Our 6yr old is very honest but at 17.3hh he doesnt really need to 'jump' over the small jumps OH will want to be doing, stepping over doesnt really count!
However he is a fantastic jumper, must have got some good genes from daddy Ramiro B maybe, but OH is terrified at the prospect at starting at about 3ft!

Our other horse has been there and done it eventing wise, LOVES to jump, will happily pop the smallest jumps as well as big nes, BUT gets VERY excited and strong when you jump him, after the first jump its like he gets a rocket up his bum! Not steady away by any means.

Thank you for any advice.

Not really advice but my big lad is exactly the same, until the jumps are high enough (or XC) he simply wont jump them, or on occassion he anhialates them! Which is scary, but then as soon as you put them up a bit for some reason he starts jumping properly - do you think it could be something to do with their perception of jumps from that height?

I 3rd that one, pickle just knocks down small jumps or steps them. Like in chase me charlie if we get through the like 3 inch start then we can win but usually thats our downfall. My dad just started with the jumps a bit higher! he was fine I can sent you some pics from his second time jumping if you pm me
