Can anyone recommend a good leather cleaner?

For my Mountain horse chaps? i'm using a random pot of leather balm i found under the sink.

i was just wondering what else i could use that might be better.

Are they leather, ie not suede, nubuck etc. If so, use Carr & Day & Martins Belvoir leather care Step 1, it lifts the dirt off really well, I was cynical about it until I'd tried it!

I use Jeffreys, very good and keeps the leather really supple

yup i do believe they are plain leather, definately not suade.

the balm stuff i use is ok, i was just wondering if there was anything that makes them look nice and shiney and keeps them in good condition.

I use warm water with sugar soap added for wiping leather tack down.
Then I use Hamanol (by Stubben) which is great or Stubben saddle soap for a lighter coating.

Ah, the Step 1 is just to clean the leather, not to condition afterwards! I'd use the same make Leather Balsam afterwards (no, I don't work for C&D&M!)

i use belvoir as my ordinary saddle-soap and hidefood or cao-cho line (SP?) as moisturizers
