Hi

I have had a bit of a nightmare buying a horse from a dealer and want to know if anyone knows of a reschooling yard in herts/beds that can take her on for me? She is a lovely little mare just very spooky out hacking and after my ten year absence from riding I dont have the confidence to iron out the issues.

Thanks

Hmmmmm. I was there many years ago when, after a 10 year break went and bought a recently cut 15 year old ex racer

The bond on the ground was almost instant however, on board he knew that I was bricking it! Not even capable of hacking him out without a scene.

The issue here is your confidence. The only way you will gain confidence is by riding as much as you can, i.e. every day. If you have access to a school then fab - have as many lessons as possible. Hack out with the oldies who just want to walk around the block and steer clear of the yea-haas.

IMHO, you dont need to send her away. If its just a confidence issue, you need to find friends'/yard that will help you gain it. Horses will always spook on a hack, particularly if they havnt been out for a while and more so if the rider is nervous and perched.

Get help. Im sure you will be fine in the right circumstances.

thats helpful - and very true thanks!thinking about changing livery yards to find somewhere with more facilities and support. have a small 2 year old to look after so everyday riding is hard - but sympathetic hubby is trying to find a solution!

how far are you willing to send your horse and how much have you got to spend as I know of someone very very good but are about 3.5 hours away from you. PM me if interested
