I have decided to treat myself to a decent winter riding coat after getting soaked this morning in a riding jacket that was definatley not waterproof!

I want one that is not to heavy, something that i can ride in but has to be really waterproof and have a hood, can be quite lightweight but not really thin as in a summer one?, i can always put layers on underneath.

I seem to have a collection of coats, quilted jackets, ski jackets but just want one decent jacket! Dont want a bomber jacket style as my winter ski jacket is like that but it is too warm to wear it yet and also dont want a wax jacket as i find that all the shavings and hay stick to them!

Any recomendations appreciated!

I have a hi-viz jacket, bought from a guy who works on the highways. It has a detachable inner jacket, proper high spec hi viz outer and is completely waterproof AND windproof.

And it cost me £15!!!

Sometimes, take "horse riding" out of the title and you get a whole lot more product for your money!

I really like the Caldene Bressay. I saw it in the Robinsons catalogue but it's £84 :( . I'm trying to look for a good winter coat too!
