Have had concerns over my farrier since he first shod Ronnie, and though he seemed like a nice chap when I met him, I had a good thorough look at Ronnie's feet again last night as he was slightly lame, and I'm really not happy.
His front feet aren't a pair, his near fore hoof-pastern axis is totally broken and that foot is splayed out on one side. Off fore is much better so doesn't match near fore. Shoes don't really fit feet and are pressing on parts that shouldn't be, plus are uneven/wonky in their fit. Hooves aren't balanced. Shod with side clips not toe clips, and the toes have been dumped so look very square. His heels on near fore are on the ground virtually.
When I bought Ronnie in April 07 the vetting mentions what great feet he has. So the deterioration has only been since I've had him.
I'm desperate for a really GOOD farrier to come and help. Please could someone recommend someone? I've been given one number for a chap who also comes to the yard, but would appreciate having a few numbers if possible as I know from bitter experience just how hard farriers are to book for new clients.
ETS: Ronnie is a TB so someone good with "TB feet" would be essential.
