Can anyone recommend a site for land for sale?

As above really. Struggling to find somewhere to rent and very tentatively wondering if buying might be an option. Does any one know where to start looking? Tried a few googles, but it just kept coming up with houses.

For those that have done it, is buying a lot more expensive than renting?

I realise the area you are in will come into play as well, but just in general?

Looking forward to your responses, and can even offer left over Quality Street as an incentive :p There's still a couple of green triangles and purple ones left :D
 
I've just been using Rightmove, but I'll keep an eye on this thread for hints to use when I start looking more seriously...
 
Try Jackson equestrian.

I think they advertise equestrian yards for sale/to let, not sure about land on its own.

Failing that buy the farmers guardian, its out on Fridays

Thats odd, as youd think that with the demand for land, securing finance on it should be easier than on a house, after all unlike houses, they are not making anymore.

No I swear! I'm not keen on chocolate, and the wee man doesn't like nuts! So not a single purple one has been eaten yet!

I have had the odd green triangle, but there's still some left. All the toffee pennys are up for grabs of course :D

The places I've seen that I think I could live in have been ok rent

For example my field rent plus mortgage are £1100 a month

Recently advertised rental in better part of uk was £1400 a month with house, more land and stables

No way could I get that with a mortgage

But then different people are in different situations, perhaps the owner of that place inherited it and has no mortgage costs
 
Depends which part of the country you want to buy in, Down here its Stags, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, Symonds and Sampson, Cooper and Tanner for somerset dorset devon way. Google "land agent in" and then whatever county you want, should turn up a few.

If you use the "type of property" tab on rightmoves search and choose land on it you will find what you're looking for, but the prices may make you cry

I thought of selling my six sloppy acres recently but have now decided to keep it and try to find someone who wants to work on it instead.

We'd just be looking at land, a field or two, not houses! We just want a small yard / smallholding, as local, private and cheap as possible :o

PS sending all the purples to you :D
 
Just want mention, that this may be a no go from the start! We are 2 very close friends, looking to horse share, who are both very far from minted - It was just a thought that buying land might be a cheaper option in the long run seeing as we'd only want to keep a couple of riding horses at most, possibly with a shettie or 5 or 7 or 10 as companions :p
 
Are you in Derbyshire, it does depend on which part, but there are quite a lot of small moorland farms/smallholdings for sale at present as I have driven around Peak District and Staffs Moorlands.

There are several local agents who specialise in country and equine properties, and certainly in this part of the country equine properties often come on the market in the next few weeks ready for the spring market.

Not sure if we can name the agents on here, but if you look in on the pages of some of the Derbyshire local papers you will see their names and adverts.
 
I was looking to rent my propertywith land but after speaking to an agent because of the agricultral tennents act its far easier and less complicated to rent without. So thats what I did on a shorthold tennency. I would try all the local agriculctral agents as often they have land on their books that never gets advertised.
