Hi All,
Can anyone recommend me some jods or breeches that:
  • won't fall apart after 5 mins,
  • won't get holes on the inside seam after 5 mins
  • aren't too bulky around the ankle if they are jods
  • come in black
  • have a zip pocket
  • fit a "fuller figure", :D e.g. size 30" or 32"
  • aren't hideously expensive (say max £40ish)

Don't want much do I?? lol

Thanks in advance. Fresh cream scones all round!

I buy dublin pull on johds for comfort and price - usually about £20 on equestrian clearance. No zip pocket but there is one inside.

Harry Hall Atlantas are great and a very forgiving, comfy fit. I think they tick all your boxes and the pocket is great. Mine are about four years old and I adore them - they come in quite a heavy cotton but I wear them all year round. They are comfy walk in, ride in, do chores in, they come through the wash great, the zip never fails, they have lots of stretch and look even better with age. They're a "hardy perennial" of the jod world, they have them every year so you should be able to find them in loads of nice colours too. Would be intersted to see what you pick.

I can tell you from experience the more you pay the more comfortable they get!! Sorry . I buy expensive ones on ebay and get them for the price of normal ones. I would say get breeches not jods as much less bulky around the ankle and i love the full seat ones . Pikeur are nice and Cavallo are even nicer.

Thanks guys, keep 'em coming. Will definitely check out the Bridleway and Harry Hall's. My Dublin's are the ones that are falling apart atm, so it's put me off them a bit, but maybe I just got a bad pair?? Pikeur and Cavallo are way out of my price range, might ask for some from Santa though!

Ive got a pair of tescos ones that are black with a zip and are more comfy than my shires ones-they were £18 i think- bargain had them about 4months no holes so far!

hmm bad lot maybe - I buy two at a time and wear them every day. Usually last about a year before they are beyond help!!!

Shires saddlehuggers. Generous fit, lovely thick stretchy cotton, well made and a very good price if you get them off ebay. I've just done the 'jodphur purge' and got some new jods and are very pleases with them. :D They don't have a zip pocket though, just a fob pocket. This company is really good seller too - capped P&P if you feel the need to go on a shopping spree......

Another vote for Dublin - pull ons - had a pair for nearly 2 years a bit faded now from washing as much but very happy with them! Just bought some more!
