My other half needs new Wellies, we've been through more Hunters than is normal-so not hunters!

Criteria is pretty broad but they must have a thick, solid sole and stand up to fairly high wear and tear.

Budget very healthy for the right boots.

I soooooo misread the title :o

Dh doesn't really wear wellies much. He has mountain horse riding boots, ariat Rydals for the country look, and two pairs of wellies, one pair of ancient hunters nabbed from my dad and a pair from the Yorkshire trading post. If it isn't too muddy and he isn't wearing jodhs he often wears hiking trainers.

I bought my hubby some muck boot wellies (neoprene ones) for Xmas as his hunters never seemed to last, and he loved them, saying he will never go back to his hunters, apart from perhaps the warm bits of summer.

If you just want hard wearing practical wellies for work, I would not look further than Dunlops. I over flex my left foot and have tried them all, including expensive ones. Dunlops are the only ones that don't crack in a short time. I get the ones with steel toe caps.

My Muckboots last me forever, but hubby's haven't. He's gone back to Aigle which are pricey but last for ages with him.

My husband has the Dunlop boots that are black with a thick red sole and have steel toe caps. They arent aesthetically pleasing but are really tough

Agree with WelshD... Dunlops are FAB - they really make 'em to last! I had a pair of these for three year's hard use before they split (tiny but enough for the water to get in!) Still had loads of tread on the sole too and I'm heavy on boots :o

My husband's wellies had also split so I replaced mine and bought him a pair too and he says they are far more comfortable than his old wellies.

One of ours is a ClydieX with hooves the size of dinner plates so we're glad of the toe protection! For just over a tenner, you really can't go wrong.

I just bought a pair of these for my husband. Plenty of reinforcement plus they are very warm. Limited range of sizes but Muckboot look at under £30:) He finds them a little heavy. I also bought him (from the same place) a pair of Dunlop Halfcut wellies - couldn't resist the name but they are proving to be very useful. He uses the ROK boots for helping with the horses due to the protection and the Halfcuts for everything else.

I have a pair of the dunlop with red sole and steel toe caps going begging,. what size is your man ? Dont suppose you are in Kent, you could have them free ! They are only 8s though quite small for a man !
