On one side of my house my neighbour has a German Shepard and when she barks my dogs (terriers) go nuts. On the other side my neighbour has a big rescue dog of some type, maybe Labrador mix I'm not sure, when he barks mine don't react, at all! I don't understand why, anyone?

Our JRT susses out other dogs very quickly, especially big ones, as to which are a threat and which are not. She was a town dog from Bolton in an earlier life. Some dogs she's really unhappy about, while others, that look much the same to us, she is fine with.

She's much more clued up on dog speak than we are, for sure.

Most but not all collies and yellow labs come into the highly suspect category, as there are some nasty examples of both locally.

My JRT goes ballistic when she hears the two German Shepherds who live in our road. Every other dog is fine. I wouldn’t mind but it’s embarrassing when she sees them on the way to the car, she makes an odd bark/howl/scream noise, which I’m pretty sure means “If only I could get to you, you’d be dinner” ?
