Molly did a feed trial for 4 weeks last month. I'm struggling to see much difference to report back to the feed company, so wondering if anyone else could!

out of interest what is the feed? and i would be honest about what you think. if you can't see any change tell them, they want feedback good bad or otherwise.

Her coat looks glossier, however well being wise is she fresher? Has she got more energy? She doesn't seem to have changed much shape wise.

I have just done a feed trial with my boys with D&H Build and Glow, it seems to be doing the job it was designed for, horses coats are glossier and they seem to be filling out. ;-)

It is a new Winenergy Balancer, especially designed for fatties that don't need much food, but gets all their vits and minerals. I don't think it's on sale yet.

I was turned down for that Winergy trial. Cant see a difference tbh. Advise them of that and if there is any difference when being exercised etc.

hard to see for the side on pic as in the second one she has a beam blocking her way and also she has a roller on.
at a push i'd say her bum doesn't look as round as the first pic but again could be due to the shiny coat (optical illusion kinda thing) or maybe the pic was taken further away.

if you can put the 2 bum pics side by side then maybe you'd be able to see better.

Ditto r_h ... pop the side on pics side by side and the bum pics side by side.
Also, have you noticd any difference in her energy levels, her stamina, willingness to work, appetite, behaviour round other horses, behaviour towards feed, etc?!

We did a 6-week fatty pony trial for Pure Feed Company (would have been 4 weeks but pony is so small her rations stretched to 6 weeks  ) .... Pony looked exactly the same after 6 weeks BUT with more energy and that extra energy was causing her to move & play more in the pastrure as well as engage more under saddle, which ultimately within a few more weeks would definitely have helped with visible, physical weight!

Definately better coat in 2nd picture. Bum is a tiny bit smaller, but that could be down to lack of work due to the weather rather than the feed? My LC is very similary in shape to her and the first place he looses condition when not ridden is on his bum so I'd suspect she is the same?

I suppose if the point of the feed is she is getting the nutrients but not the calories then I'd say it's worked to a point because her coat does look shiney...but that could be pre-spring coat coming through..my lads both have lovey shiney coats at the moment and they are on bog standard grass nuts only.

Did you weigh tape her before and after?

Oh buggar! I didn't! Doh! I think the feed trial said to do too. Am so stupid sometimes.:( I was supposed to condition score her too, but am rubbish at it and don't think she's changed much anyway, certainly not enough to go down a number on the condition scoring chart.

I think it looks like she has a healthier coat and weight wise I cant really see any difference.
However I wouldn't necessarily say that was a bad thing, my boy put weight on on lo-cal balancer so had to take him off it. I think as he was more balanced he was making better use of the (very minimal) food he was getting. So with more excercise you should have a lean, shiny and healthy horse :)

Hm.

Is her girth any looser, i.e. doing up on a shorter hole?

I don't think she's changed enough for condition scoring to make a difference, so I wouldn't fret about that :)

I thought her bum was more apple shaped in second pic which made her look a bit fatter.
She does look shinier but that could be sun shining on her.
