Wondering if there is any sort of governing body for this sort of job, how insurance works, whether there are any set rules or guidelines and whether these tend to be followed? I'm not thinking of setting up, interested for another reason!
Thanks in advance.

i dont use a dogwalking service but i chat with a man who dogwalks.he never walks more that 2 at a time.
last time i saw him he said he was in talks with the local council about them drawing up a list of council approved walkers, but i think it is just a voluntary thing.

sometimes i see 2 woman dogwalkers in the distance with about 10 off lead and i go the other way.
above mentioned man said they lost one and didn`t even notice untill he took it back :(

I use a dog walker, not on a regular basis, but when I go somewhere for the day that the dogs can't come. I already knew her through the riding club which helped me trust her. The dogs adore her, she had them for a sleepover last weekend when we stayed away eventing. Usually they come too.
Her card says, Dog walking, Small animal care, Pet sitting, Pet taxi. Home visits. Fully insured and Police checked.

Paid dog walkers should be insured (for their clients dogs safety, public liability), police checked is optional. Insurers usually insure up to 6 dogs as do the council I believe, council licence might be required but not sure on that...
