I have just asked this question on another equestrian site, as i have just bought the loveliest young cob chap ! The response I got with truly amazing stories was totally inspiring!!

So wondering what response you guys might give with your amazing experiences with fluffy s and dressage??

Of course! Our little 14hh coloured cob got my daughter into dressage. Only do unaffil stuff but they qualified for the trailblazers finals & I was very surprised to see a lot of cobs there doing extremely well xx

Was this on the BD forum? I saw an ace thread on there about cobs doing dressage with amazing youtube links lol.
My spotty boy is half welsh (his body is literally welsh cob at 6ft6 rugs but only 15hh) and I am utterly determined to prove the doubters wrong that he can go all the way up to at least PSG level! He is already showing talent for some of the harder movements.

Yes Rowy!! Was very pleasantly surprised to see so many wonderful and correct fluffys doing really high up dressage!!!! What brilliant stories and I do think worthy of an article in a modern up to date equestrian mag!!! We hear so many stories about flash continentals what about the sublime fluffies???? Where are our articles???? So many amazing stories to resource from,,, would pull on the hardest of heart strings!

Of course they can, all horses can 'do dressage' at some level or another. Mine cob wasnt a fluffy, being hogged and trimmed, but we did a lot of unaff dressage. Although he did not enjoy the schooling aspect terribly for two reasons - being a cob he got pretty bored, plus he had been a riding school horse and was used to switching off in the school, he loved parties. When he saw the white boards of a dressage arena he grew from 14.3 to 16.3 and although he had nice paces anyway, I did detect some major toe flicking going on as we trotted down the centre line. He is quite a placid lad, but he used to get really really excited doing dressage and always knew his dressage tack and the fact that mum was wearing different gear to ride him. If I had the time now I would get him back out doing it. Go for it, there should be more cobs out doing dressage.

He'll YES! I have a little 14.2hh 8yo that loves his dressage. He won his last comp and has got some very flicky toes when you push the right buttons.

He only really started working correctly on Sept when I got him, but he was one of the best buys ever - never fails to put a smile on my face :) :) :)

I don't get why they couldn't?

Al had a little (just 14hh) cob who did Novice easily, and if he hadn't been so fit he was on the verge of exploding with every stride could have gone further. However, she much rathered taking him round 1.10m courses as he was so pingy... He had feathers to his knees, a roman nose, and took a wide in saddles and a full size bridle. He was a tank of a pony- if he could jump and school like he did, I don't see why any other cob couldn't!

The stunning cob Al rode for her GCSE PE video- he's also a riding school horse...

See!!!!! More wonderful stories of lovely (metaphorical if clipped off) fluffies!! They are so intelligent and love life!! Any more pics or/and Cinderella rags to riches stories???

Of course they can. Genie has been to two BRC Nationals this year (coming 7th in the one at RWHS) as well as BD Regionals. I think her attitude prevents us from progressing as quickly as I would like, but so long as we are both enjoying it (and like TX's cob she LOVES parties) then we shall continue!

trendybraincell also does brilliantly with her Welsh D. :D

That's fantastic!! Is your cob pure cob or x!! Do u have any action shots?? ! The attitude' is that cob attitude or attributed to something else??

No. Mine was a total nutcase and couldn't go 4 minutes without leaping in the air.

A HHOer once judged me at a dressage competition.. Comments were "Bravely ridden on not an easy pony".

Here's Genie

Attitude wise she's Welsh D and a mare, we joke that it could only be worse if she were chestnut! When she is on side she is AMAZING, but when she's being argumentative it can take 45 minutes to 'discuss' going on the bit. It's rather frustrating at times!!!!

And this is Titchy - 1/2 gypsy cob, 1/4 welsh cob, 1/4 sports horse. This picture is not long after backing this summer, she's now officially 4 and has her first party in 3 weeks!

My cob does dressage...hes another clipped into oblivion chap, however we have been training at elementary level in 2012 and have just done our first 3 bd elementary tests in November and December. He found lengthening for medium trot very difficult...it was almost like he couldn't believe he could do it....but we are definately getting there now! My instructor is sure he will do medium level tests and that's the goal I have set myself this year! I should just add, hes 15 coming on 16 now...I only just wish I had done this BD stuff when he was younger! Have a look at the link below. This is us in our second long elementary test....I know there is much to improve on, but I thought you may want to see it.

I'd like to do some BD prelims, I did a W&T test in October just to make sure she wasn't going to kill me ;) she was brilliant, safe non-spooky! Exactly what I was wanting.
My aim is to do out first one in April at Speedgate which is the Chester Hall Events series. It's really well run and quite close to us.
I'm really enjoying hacking and training, I have a lesson with Andrew Murphy tomorrow so will be very intrigued to see what he thinks as he hasn't seen her since September!!!!
Even if we don't make it BD she's so lovely I don't mind :)

DD,, wow what a lovely boy! Trying so hard in mediums but just such a tryer!! Beautiful attitude and pretty nice med trot when you consider how the fluffies are built!!!! You must be so chuffed with him!
