On monday our mare had cortisone injections in both her hocks.

Over the past several days i have noticed a change in her behavour. She has a paddock of her own, in the next paddock are two ponies, one mare and one gelding.

Our mare has been in season so has been squirting (to the mare), her season has settled but now she is acting like a stallion.
If any of the ponies comes near her she stomps the ground with her front legs, arches her neck and makes some very stallion like noises.
Nothing can look at her without snorting and stomping, this is very untypical for her, she is normally very laid back.

she should have hardly any systemic effects if its been injected into the joint. however it can cause the following effects which may account for her behaviour-
menstrual irregularity, E$uphoria
however whats more likely is shes feeling darned good as her hocks arent hurting so as shes come into season shes just feeling extra flirty as shes not in any pain...

That could well be something to do with it, she looks like she is full of the joys of spring. Not complaining though but she does remind me of a stallion at the mo
