I have just changed my horses feed and after taking her to a show earlier, she was spooking at the fences, which she doesnt usually do. This resulted in her stopping to have a look!

Has anyone else had this problem?
The new feed was supposed to give her a bit of oooph as she seems to be lacking at the moment.
She has spooked at things in the ring sometimes but never at the jumps enough to make her stop. She usually just jumps them, even really wild fillers.

My mare turns into a nutjob if fed either alfalfa or carrots. She is normally spooky but in control, if fed either of these she is not in her own control.

Yep - definitely!!

Anything that gives them an extra bit of energy can make them spooky - from oats to just a different type of haylege.

I had a very idle 4 yo HannxTB & tried him on comp mix. He was just as idle schooling but about 100 x spookier out hacking & in the end after 3 major 'incidents' on one hack, I put him back on neddy mix.

With Catembi, I found Nupafeed improved his spooking by about 90 to 95%, but it's £££££.

Any cereal/mix- even 'cool' ones send my lad crackers, and he's bad enough when hes 'chilled'.....so now i feed fibre/oil based products with feed supplement which seems to work, pluse magnitude calmer.....anything else and a hack isnt really enjoyable, although schooling sessions are somewhat energetic!
