She's getting clipped soon as she gets itchy in the summer, especially her feet and she stamps a lot.

Watch those white feet! Clyde suffers from mud fever and grease and, if left untreated when his feathers grow so you can't see the signs, he stamps his feet a lot. It's sheer frustration when his feet itch and hurt. May I suggest that you cut her feathers off? (I can hear the screams from here!) We keep Clyde cut back and it's so much better for him and makes keeping his feet clear so much easier. The fact that he's got lovely shaped ID legs, not cobs, helps!

yep i just said she's gettin clipped soon

they'll either all come off or get cut right back

although her feathers have never actually grown this big before! usually you can see her feet all the time. she's not porne to mud fever or anything, she has a skin condition that makes her itch and the heat in summer makes it worse. i do love her feathers but i know it's better for her and for me to clean

ooh,i think her tum has grown to.
do be careful.
my cob is similar hairyness and i have clipped the lot off as i have not got all day to groom.i would rather spend my time on body brushing for shine than combing out knots.

I might be wrong but I think there is a vitamin in sunlight that would make hair/nails etc grow....maybe that's it, as it's been sunny for the last few weeks (until this week). Is it vitamin K?

Thought grass burnt the feathers, well that was what i was warned with my cob. Love the feathers though, looking well.

Spend ages every day cleaning my ladies up, but its all worth it. Would never ever go near my lot with clippers

thanks guys, looking well

she's not actually mine, she's at the rescue centre i volunteer at but i ride her

i love her feathers and i would love to be able to keep them but it's better for her to have them off.
She doesn't get mites, she's got a skin conditions she's had for ages, since we got her. Vet has said there's nothing to do for it, just clipping to make her more comfortable. it doesn't bother her in the winter
