Can having horses stop you getting colds?

I think the kids do have more to do with it than the horses in my case. As soon as they go back to school after the hols they bring something home. Spent two weeks trying to fight off this virus but its getting the better of me at the moment. Kids got over it a lot quicker

My mum always asks me to muck the car out before I pick her up to go shopping.

I've got 4 kids, and I go to the gym and I do my horses and I'm 40 in July. I have a theory that because we can't usually allow ourselves to get ill because of commitments then we work through the initial stages which stimulates the immune system and fights off the cold. If I start to feel a cold coming I go straight to the gym and it's gone in a day

That may well be right. It has been proved that physical exercise helps the imune system.

i would agree with that, i always say i'm too busy for the colds to catch up with me;) I'm not exactly fit but I'm always on the go, i don't have an office based job so i'm not in an enclosed germ filled environment very often (thank goodness!!)

Good point about children :D I have a 6 year old and work in a school, germy little creatures

So the secret must be stay away from ankle biters :)

I am a peripatetic teacher and visit many schools full of germ ridden children.
I have not had a major cold for several years. I think it is partly to do with horses(the exercise and the fact that one can only afford to eat tiny bits of meat,so supplement diet with loads of cheap veg:))
I also think it might be that I have been teaching for 25 years,so have met most of the bugs that cause colds already!

You know how city farms and animal petting attractions have signs up saying NOW WASH YOUR HANDS (i.e you have just touched a dirty animal and might catch some dreadful disease!)
Well, I think that children should have a similar warning sign attached to them.:)

not sure...but could it be to do with the fact that lets face it.. as immaculate as we all can be...there is ALWAYS someone who is sure they can smell a little horse on us...my theory being people just don't come close enough to breath their evil germs on us!;-)
