Just a random thought, but if your trying to get a powder into a horse that needs meds, would this be a good way of doing it? Shoot me down if its a bad idea :)

I was thinking on the level for horses who are on a strict diet, but need meds. If a horse say had ulcers, the bio-yogurt would help line the stomach wouldn't it? Like they tell a person to line their stomach before going out drinking? This isn't for my lad, just a general question :)

How many hoses have you seen milking cows?

Seriously, they aren't designed to eat dairy.

Not to say a small bit would necessarily hurt. But it isn't what their guts are set up for.

How many horses do you see eating Jam butties? We're all guilty of feeding them food that they wouldn't eat in the wild aren't we?

I'll be honest with you and say it has never occurred to me to give a jam sandwich (or anything else besides forage, veggies and horse feeds) to a horse!

Maybe I'm just lacking in imagination :-)

When mine wouldn't eat her liver pills I wrapped them up in leaves. Or what about giving it in a bowl of speedi-beet first thing in the morning before morning hay?

Yoghurt is good for disguising meds but latest research has shown that all these bio things have no effect on hind gut as stomach acid kills them before they ever get there.

Yes an old mare on my last yard was given charcoal mixed into yoghurt to help her gut. She had it for about 3 years or so before she passed away aged 33
