My 4yr old gelding has a LOVE of bread sticks. When ever I have a packet anywhere on me, he will be straight at it even though he tends to be quite polite at food. Once when we were struggling with drop work and stairs, it only took a bread stick bribe to get him up or down. Is it safe for him to be eating these?

My German horse was always fed dried out bread rolls which had the same consistency as bread sticks from the local village bakery as were the whole yard. It appears to be a thing over there and never did him any harm. If your horse likes them and you give them in moderation as a treat or reward then why not.

Yes, they often feed dried out rolls or slices of bread here (Germany). Quite often. I don't feed it to my horse, but many do without issue.

My old horse used to eat bit of my burger roll at the McDonald’s drive through, he had apple pie of his own but ate it before I’d finished my burger so demanded some of that too ? he lived til his late 30’s
I’m now pretty careful what I feed, maybe I should revert!
