Can horses get filled legs from eating straw?

My little horse has recently started to get filled legs, all round, after a night in his stable. He has never had these before and nothing has really changed with regards his routine etc. There is no heat in them, they're just filled! They go back to normal once I exercise him. Someone said maybe it was from eating straw. Has anyone heard of this? There are other reasons it could be, but a few of the yard horses have started to get them lately so wonder if the new batch of straw is causing it?

It is possible - just saying possible - that there maybe mild toxins in the straw that you have. Ari's legs started filling up badly overnight and we had changed to a this year's big bale of hay. We stopped feeding that bale and oddly enough, his legs haven't swollen to the same extent since.

use to have our horses on wheat, never had filled legs but plenty of coughing, can you put them on shavings or paper bedding
