My horse (the bay in my sig) has had a swollen hock for around a fortnight now. He's completely sound and has been flexion tested, but despite a week of bute and box rest the swelling is still present (although much reduced) and the vet wants to x-ray the area to be sure that there isn't any damage. He has an odd hard lump on the bone on the outside of the hock which she thinks might be where he bashed it. Originally the swollen area was like a bog spavin, but now that it has reduced the hard lump on the outside is more visible.
So fingers crossed for him please. I'm dreading hearing bad news as this horse already had most of last year off through injury had had just come back to competition before this latest setback.
I'm taking him in first thing monday morning, but will be away all weekend so wanted to post now.
Thanks!
