Can I ask how much you think this would cost?

7 days full livery on a yard with the following facilities:
Indoor Lodden stabling
Indoor School
Menage (40x60)
Lunging arena
Covered horse walker
Hot and cold wash down boxes
Rug dryers
Individual well maintained paddocks
200 acres of off road riding
All beds are woodchip and kept pristine
The whole place is immaculate

So what would you think a yard like this would charge?

at least £ 100-120 per week. sounds fantastic. really short of full livery yards round my way at all let alone anything like that !

Where is the yard??

It isn't too far from me in Essex, inbetween Brentwood and Chelmsford

Yep...i'm on DIY livery, I pay £15 a week per horse ( we have 3) and for that we get grazing/stable/outdoor schooling ring/water/leccy and my own feed room. YO has her own horses there and will do livery for an extra £50 a week if you go on hols...off road hacking too, not V posh as its on working farm, but hey, its on my doorstep

To all those who said £100 - £120, would you think £150 is too expensive?
In my mind it isn't but that is because I currently pay £100 - £120 for 5 days full livery, an indoor school and service that is frankly second rate.
I'm considering moving to the above yard, but it is such a lot of money to be spending on one horse every week!

No probably not. It sounds very, very nice.

it does sound very very nice- no way I'd pay it though..

I have a good job, but I still prefer money in my pocket even if it means getting up at 6am and doing 3 horses before work...my mortgage is no more than that!
I'm sweating just thinking about it..would have no money left for wine!!!!!

I know what you mean but I have to get up at 6 for work as it is. And actually you've just made a good point to me - I don't really drink much anymore and I don't smoke, so the money i am saving can go towards the extra livery bill!!!!!!!

Does the horse have to be full livery though - could you do part DIY??

This yard is full livery only. At the moment I'm on 5 days and I do wknds myself, which is ideal for me really, but they don't do that.
To be honest I wouldn't be contemplating moving (been at current yard for 13 years) if it wasn't for the service going downhill.

Does "full livery" by their definition include exercise and tack cleaning? Because if it doesn't then I do think its rather expensive.

The ultra-posh equestrian centre near me has amazing facilities; three indoor schools, 40x60 outdoor menage, XC course, horse walker, wash box, solarium thing, on-site vet clinic, on-site tack shop, nice cafe, lots of box parking, loads of shows, clinics, etc, etc. Full livery there (which includes exercise 4x /week, tack cleaning 1x/ week and grooming) is £165. If you have the full 7 day service but can manage your own exercising, grooming and tack cleaning, it costs £110/week.

For all those facilities etc i would say it is a reasonable price,IF you are going to get the service, moving and paying that sort of money you need yto make sure contract is scrutinised

....however i will say due to living up north i would have a coronary if somebody told me it was that much, pmsl, however wages etc up here are less

I'd pay £150 pw if it was as nice as described and within 30mins of my home. I'm already paying £105 for a place which is really shabby and where the drains in the one washdown area have been backed up for the last 3 weeks!

NO WAY????My yard owner is struggling to get full liveries at £68 here

,she is way undercharging as service is second to none, hacking great and yard lovely
smile.gif
,however we find people up here bugger off looking for cheaper and that is what they get,1 just left thinking cheaper is better yet hacking is on a very busy road with loadsa huge lorries so not safe for daughter, fancy not doing research eh??

trundle, wow, as far as I am concerned that is cheap!! However that kind of place (with shows etc etc) wouldn't be any good for me, my horse needs somewhere that is quiet otherwise he doesn't settle very well. The £150 doesn't include exercise.

burtondog, you have made me feel better about contemplating it!! I am also paying that in the summer for 5 days on full livery at the moment, in the winter my bill is normally about £120 and my yard is not even in the same class as this one!

hadfos, the service is fantastic, I know the head girl that works there and she is very commited to her job. The whole place still looks virtually brand new and is kept immaculate by the farm manager.
