Can I claim for this on insurance?

I am lucky to have never needed to have claimed on my insurance.

Unfortunately, my pony went lame a few weeks back. Vet came out and suggested a weeks box rest and bute. She is defininitely better, but only 70% i'd say.

Now my vet has said she can go down the route of x rays, nerve blocks etc, but is this something I can claim for on insurance? She was originally diagnosed as possible laminitis, but I'm not convinced.

So my question is, what are the chances my insurance will pay for the investigative work? I am with KBIS and I have the highest category of vet cover.

I will ring them tomorrow, but just wondering for now.

Also, does anyone know roughly how much nerve blocks and x rays cost?

Thanks!

No idea on cost but as long as the problem hasn't been investigated before or a previous problem then there should be no reason they shouldn't pay out. Have you phoned to let them know about the lameness? I'm with kbis and I'm sure as part of their policy you need to contact them before/asap the onset of lameness etc.

I'm with KBIS. I had someone out to my boy as he wasn't right and to cut a long story short he ended up going 2 the vets twice for investigation which turned out to be arthritis in his fetlock which was then medicated and they paid for everything (minus excess). The cost of the x rays and treatment will depend on your vets.
