Sobs - i have 2 saddles ending in an hour on there - both has 4 and 9 watchers. No Bids.
This is the 2nd time they have been listed too - the first time one had 2 and the other 10 watchers but no flipping bids! Why watch if your not going to bid? :-(

Add to this, that a lovely bridle i 'sold' last week on ebay has yet to be paid for and im wondering why i bothered!
Im only upset as i need the money to buy my horse another saddle as she has changed shape :-(

e-bay is a strange thing... few tips:
make sure your listings end on weekend evening
put a low (very low) starting bid and a reserve price if necessary
don't give up :)
I had the same saddle going round at least 3 times, with the same description, the same photos and so on, 2 times didn't get a bid, 3rd time was sold for waaay more than it was worth lol

Ebay is very frustrating sometimes, I have had this too with some reins! Basically people go on ebay for a bargain, and if you're not prepared to give them a much better deal than elsewhere then they won't buy, annoying, but it makes sense. I often 'watch' an item that's interesting but don't ever really plan on bidding, perhaps you're asking too much for them?

Very annoying but you can make money off ebay and they will sell sooner or later! :)

Contact the buyer and ask for prompt payment. I put on my adverts that failure to pay within 5 days will result in it being relisted.

Adtrader is quite good for selling too.

What she said!

You can pay 6p to start your auctions on a Sunday evening if you want to write them whenever and not worry. It really does make a difference having things end at about 7 on a Sunday.

I started my saddle at a tenner I think. With a reserve. People seem to get sucked in by low starting prices

Good luck, you'll shift them eventually.

Well i'm frustrated too cause I sold my saddle on e-bay and was very pleased as it made more than i thought and buyer paid the minute it ended, so I sent it by 24 hour delivery the next day, done and dusted.

2 days before I sold my own saddle I won a new saddle as a replacement and i'm still waiting for it, that was on 1st June, i've e-mailed several times now and keep being told "its on its way" getting to the point of putting a PAYPAL complaint in to try to get my money back, miffed grrrr

I have start bids of £80 on an old ish stubben gp and £185 on a Heritage close contact jump saddle? Surely thats not too high?

Ive dont the sunday listing - nada!
Interestingly though, 2 items that didnt sell, a rug and some ariat chaps, are selling this time round????
Same listing etc?

too much, it needs to a tenner or so, remember, it's not how they start, it's how they finish ;)
if you want to PM me with the details of your stubben I might be interested, just can't be bothered to search e-bay. link to auction will do :)

I don't know. I always find the lower the start price the more people bid. People are stoopid.

I bought my Frank Baines for £260 and not one other person bid. If it had been listed as starting at £15 I bet it would have ended up going for more than that! I don't understand why it is that way but it is.

Have you tried Gumtree?

I normally start things at 99p, even expensive items. You can put a reserve so no risk. Starting at that price tends to get loads of people bidding and then its kind of the 'herd mentality' :)

Nothings selling on ebay at the moment. I listed my saddle recently and it didnt sell. I had cheeky offers which were laughable especially considering you couldnt buy a leather saddle at the price they were offering. Im thinking of contacting saddles direct and putting an ad on their classified section.

Great..
What were you trying to sell?

A barnsby GP saddle, granted it does have some colour fadings on saddle flaps and seat but is otherwise in good condition. It has also been reflocked recently. Cant believe the cheek of some people expecting to pay around £150 for a leather saddle.

I've sold a saddle, a bridle & some other horsey things on Ebay over the last couple of weeks, so things are selling. I think it's down to well worded descriptions of the items you are selling. This coupled with good photos of the item you're selling & this will greatly enhance the chance of selling you're items. :)

I just bought a gorgeous albion kb comfort bridle from ebay which came today. the seller also put in a brand new white shimmery lovely stock plus a very pretty stockpin and a new pair of puffa leather and crochet gloves as extras.
What a lovely kind thing to do

Isnt it something like 30% commission with them though?

They do take commission but i tried ebay 4 times got peed off in the end but they so helpful when your buying new ones and they gave good deal on the old one i just said

what is my saddle worth ??? she said

£ 400

i said whats your commission she said £ 50 so i said ok put it up for £ 450 that way i got the £ 400 i wanted they got their £ 50

I buy a lot on ebay and yes I am a watcher, I want to see what the price is just b4 it ends if too high I dont bid.
The not so good thing about being a watcher is that you cannot always get back in time to bid as work and such and such gets in the way, hence why I find myself stamping my foot when I miss out on an item I wanted.

I'm having Ebay issues too!
I bought a saddle for £250 plus delivery because the seller said it was good condition with no marks or scratches except for a scratch on the back on the seat.
Seller said it would be sent by courier on the Tues for delivery Wednesday so I booked the day off work to receive it but it never turned up. Contacted the seller who eventually sent me a tracking number late on that Wednesday which when I checked it, it said 'we have received your request for collection' so I wasted a days holiday :(
Saddle arrived Friday with scuffs all along the cantle and well worn where the stirrup leathers had rubbed. Obviously an old saddle when her listing said it wasn't that old.

It's been a nightmare and after much stress and correspondance cos the seller had already spent the money and couldn't refund me, I have relisted it with a more honest description. I have 3 watchers and 2 days left but no bids so if it doesn't sell I will do what I should have done in the first place and open an 'item not sa described' case! I'm sure she'll be a nightmare with that too :(

Im selling a Wintec Pro Dressage saddle on ebay with 22 watchers and 2 bids still with 3 days left!! I have included a few extras like knee blocks and gullets and will probably throw in the girth, maybe the sheepskin sleeve and a saddle cloth if it makes near the 275 I wanted. My start price was £99.00 so not too cheap. I do hate selling on ebay mainly because of the hassle of posting/tracking etc but I LOVE buying on there! LOVE IT!! To the point of checking it everyday for a bargain! Sad eh?!

^^^^ I sell loads of stuff on ebay for decent prices- good pics and detail and you won't go wrong.

As for 'cheeky' people offering £150 for a leather saddle.....yep- thats what e-bays for. If you want top prices don't uses ebay- simple as.

I will have 3 saddles on there, on the weekend. Ones a Jefferies not sure if jump or gp 17.5" Brown, ones a synthetic dressage 18" Black and the other is my sythetic GP 17.5" Black Maxam saddle. Also have Stubben bridle and running martingale. So I am going to try what you lot have said and put them all on at about 7pm on Sunday, as it's free. :)
