a picture tells a thousand words:

untied.jpg

my darling sweet Raff has been untied after 7 weeks and 2 days of being cross tied.

very very happy owner alert.
oh, and rather chuffed Raff... he's had a good lie down for the first time since breaking his leg.

three cheers for Raffy for getting this far! :D

Trumpet fanfare from here! Fantastic news...Im sure you have been to hell and back with worry.

Love conquers all.......and Raff looks amazing and happy... onwards and upwards from now.

lol, I was just about to hit 'new thread' to see if anyone had heard from you about how he is, and here you are already!

Fabulous, he's looking so well. So pleased for you both xx

Went through a similar thing with my horse last summer (spiral fracture from knee to fetlock) and it took him 10 days to attempt a roll. He didnt poo on his bed for 5 days as he had been x-tried for so long. Bless. Hes now as sound as he ever was.

Hope your fella goes from strength to strength.

slinks - yes, i clipped him (apart from head as i thought it was providing some relief from 24/7 headcollar wearing) and it helped massively with itching. also, got some FL aloe vera spray and that's helped lots too.

kerilli - he curled up in a little ball and snoozed. however, he then decided to do gynastics. remember i said i'd never seen a horse other that your young 'uns behave like that in a stable...? well, raff has done it done. vertical rear to buck... to rear to buck... etc.

mrussel - it's lovely to hear of full recoveries. raff broke his radius, up at the top. we thought it was spiral to begin with but turned out it was line fracture. so glad your horse is fixed!

thank you for lovely kind thoughts y'all. :D

3x over whoop!!
He looks fab. How are you getting on with the leading out for nibbles now?Hope he's chilled abit!

no leading out yet cos vet gave him a sedation jab... but it hasn't kicked in... :( it doesn't seem to have done much (judging by the bucking/rearing/farting he was doing in his stable earlier!)

so, back to the drawing board. i do have a couple of sedalins so might just try them. *gulp*
