Can I get my event record changed, if so how?

Hi all. I've had results put on my record and I fell off so retired and yet they have put me as Eliminated with R3 but I never had a refusal at all!! I know it's not good either way but I don't want him having R3 on his record when he has never refused a jump ever with me! Grrr it's made me a bit mad tbh!
 
I think the official rule is that you have to complain at the event. That is why the results are posted and then prize giving has to be at least 20/30 mins later so that it gives people time to contest the results.

In theory the scorer could go back over the XC fence judge sheets and look and see what the judge wrote. But if it says R3 on the sheet you are stuffed. Fence judges have to be available for at least 20 mins after the last horse has gone XC so that the scorer can query any results with them.

My experience is that once the event is over the scorer will be reluctant/unable to sort it out and you have to put it down to bad luck
 
But that's disgraceful I burst my nose and lip open and was in a right state so how can I be expected to stay and see the results go on the board. Ive sent an email and am willing to argue my point because its hardly his fault that I fell off.
 
Well it isnt great but at the same time, if you did come to sell him, you'd just explain. We're looking for an eventer at the moment and where there are some slightly random results, often people have had valid explanations which we've accepted - i.e. I went the wrong way!

If he's never refused before or since, people won't care! xx
 
I won't sell him but it makes me out to be a liar. It was in the showjumping so I'm hoping the photographer got photos of it. I think it's absolutely shocking if this is the way they work, I can understand people having only 30 mins to complain about scoring for placings but it's their fault if they put the wrong code on an event record surely!

I know that being unplaced is still unplaced whatever but retiring and having ER3 is a very different thing. They wouldn't do it to Oliver Townend and the likes so why should they be able to do it to us in pre novice GRR! I'm really mad.
 
BE records don't always add up. For example I had a horse fall XC a couple of years ago, but on the record it says RHF (retired horse fall). A horse fall is elimination!!!!! On a different note I did manage to get BE to change my record when it said I had WD before SJ, when I actually WD after I had jumped clear SJ, so wanted the clear round on my horse's record, despite not running XC. I just dropped BE an email and they changed it the same day.
 
I've emailed and she says she will check with the scorer... So we will see. but you'd think the paramedic would log it if they were involved so that may help!

Unfortunately the rule is the rule. I was given 20 for doing a long route at Rolleston Intermediate years ago, I went home because knew i wouldn't be placed and they were being v slow updating the scoreboard. when i saw the totally undeserved 20 on the record i protested, explained, and even sent the clear, well-shot video i had of us jumping the fence, which showed clearly that it wasn't a run out or stop but a deliberate early decision to do the long route... so, fence judges error, 100%. the BE Regional Director agreed, in writing, that we didn't deserve the 20 (the only xc jumping penalties that horse ever got at Intermediate, i was livid) but absolutely would NOT change the online results, no chance.
tbh it sucks... but it's the rule. good luck with it, it may be that if you push then they'll check back on the fence judges' sheets, and they'll realise their error and amend it.
 
You would hope BE and or the event would have kept some record of your fall, just incase you tried to make a claim (not for one second saying you would!). I would seem silly if all XC falls are offocially reported, but not SJ (or dressage for that matter!). Possibly something to highlight to BE if they don't change the result??
 
I did get an E corrected on mine which was incorrect. I think it depends on the individual scorer. She was very helpful and did check back to the FJ records and confirmed it was wrong. I did get a ticking off for not staying to see the result go up though and reminded normally they would not change it.
 
They have emailed me back to say that it wasn't clear on my sheet exactly what had happened so they have double checked and agree that I don't deserve it on mine or his record so are taking the R3 off.

kerilli that's really bad! If you have video evidence and they agree with it then you shouldn't have it on your record.

Yes it does matter. I put a lot of effort into both my horses and he has never refused a fence with me so I'm not having someone make their mind up to give him a blip on his record for something that was my fault. And Im out most weekends with BE costing approximately 250 quid each time with fuel and and entries so the least I think we can expect is correct records.
 
Any fall should be recorded, the circumstances of the fall and any medical treatment given noted on a fall report and collected by the BE Steward. So BE will have a written record of the incident. Not sure how quickly the paperwork gets to BE but assume it will be fairly quickly.
 
Thanks for that old course builder. To be fair they haven't argued at all. I wasn't arsey in my email to them and they just replied saying it was quite right that it was undeserved and they had double checked and will remove it so I'm happy at that :o) thanks everyone.

baggy breeches that's fine if it's not important to you but it is important to me.
 
Perhaps I'm a bit too laid back for my own good, but if the horse is not for sale I don't see what the fuss it about.

I agree that is really frustrating to have an incorrect result but I'm not sure I'm clear why this is such a huge issue. If it had cost you a place or a qualifying result then I totally get it - but you retired anyway :confused:

Well seems you two are in the minority girls because everyone I've spoken to agrees that they would not like 3 undeserved refusals on their record either...

Anyway like I say its not important to you, but it is to me. Would they put three refusals on The famous event riders when they actually chose to retire??? I think not. It's like Kerilli when they had presented video evidence that they didn't have a refusal, it's just not right wether you want to sell the horse or not... I'm the first to hold my hands up when things go wrong but my horse did not refuse three fences. I'm quite proud of his eventing record to date so to get an R is a shame in it's own right at this stage, but ER3 is undeserved, he didnt do it. my other horse is a totally different story, and I can't imagine I'd ever have a record of his to be proud of lol. Anyway fair play to BE they also agree with me, maybe they are slowly coming round the fact that they do on occasion have to rectify their own mistakes?
