Vet en route for his 4th visit in 6 days :-(

Alf had a bacterial infection in one leg last week, requiring two visits, then he colicked on Sunday - prob a combination of loads of drugs, and not moving much. He was fine yesterday, but today he's not well again. Only two droppings overnight, and one today. He's really not himself.

I hear these vibes are pretty effective...

Will keep you informed. I'm probably just being paranoid, but having lost one horse to an impaction, I am a bit neurotic!

Don't blame you for being paranoid or neurotic at all . . . and as you seem to be local to me, is there anything practical I can do? I make a mean cup of tea . . . xx

Aww - that's very sweet of you. I'm ok and caffeined up - sure the main man will be fine!

Where are you?

Live in Sandhurst and my GreyDonkey is stabled just over the Hampshire border in Eversley . . . seriously just shout if you need to mainline some decent brownies or just want to vent in person.

Hugs.

That's rotten poor old boy , vibes from here .
Fatty could so with some vibes to he's got an infection too he had a temperature of 105 yesterday morning and was a very poorly boy.

Vet has just been, and thinks it's just taking a while for his guts to start working again properly - he sedated him, had a bit of a poke around and extracted another tiny little poo,, but doesn't think there's an impaction - just not a lot going on. Might be something to do with the antibiotics - I'm to give him one more dose tomorrow, so he's had a good 5 day worth, then stop. Was supposed to be 10 days, but his leg is pretty much better, so prob ok to knock the drugs on the head for the sake of his innards!

He's not drinking, so is a bit dehydrated, but isn't in pain. Just need to keep him on sloppy feeds and wet hay (which he HATES!) for a few more days. I'm sure he'll be delighted to hear that when he wakes up!

Bless his sleepy little cotton socks...
