I don't like to write self pitying posts but I have had just about enough today. I am so frustrated by my lack of transport and the fact my horses are just sitting around not doing anything. I am probably the most competitive person I have ever met and I despise not being able to get out and do!

I know lots of people are in my boat, I know it is my own fault for not saving hard enough or something, I know I shouldn't moan. But today I really do feel like throwing all my toys out of the pram.

I'd sell up and take up crochet but no one would even buy my horses at the moment. Sigh.

Ok, please feel free to yell at me now!

I can second that feeling!!! And then when you get to go and do something else stops you! im looking at praps sharing trasport with another girl at my yard, as we normally go to the same shows and are at the same level so seems like a good idea at the moment. Let the saving begin

its difficult, i had a really talented horsey but no transport and felt that id wasted her. But i got over it by thinking "by not going out i'm giving everyone else a chance to win" (joking im not that arrogant :p) just keep your head up and work hard then when you do get transport youll knock your rivals socks off! :)

I know you're all going to groan but i've got a trailer and landy and i'm too nervous to go anywhere ( not towed horse before ) so i feel guilty every time i walk through the yard and watch it going green..:(

Ta all :) I do get occasional lifts but I'm not on a yard with anyone competitive at all so not to the things I really want to go to. There are four lorries on the yard and none of them go anywhere regularly and those that go out at all never go anywhere I'd want to :(

Head down and work hard I guess. I did scrape up the money to take my trailer test but I don't have anything left to buy a tow car or a trailer. Sigh.

And work is hard work at the moment which isn't helping my mood much!

Try to think about what you have rather than what you don't or what's stopping you from competing. I know its frustrating but I'm sure you rather have your horses (even if you can't get out to play) than not have them there at all...I mean what would you do with all that spare time, spare cash flow and less stress in your life? *grins*

Your time will come, just be patient and enjoy what you have :)

....I keep telling myself that! lol

:( If theres some show jumping or something interesting on at milton over the xmas hols you can have a lift.

I'm really lucky that my dad has a suitable tow car and can tow without taking an extra test so I could get my trailer.

That's rubbish :( I was in that position for about a decade after I got my old boy - all my friends were out competing, going to pony club and such and I never could so I do understand.

I hope you can find a solution somehow.

Hmm. I'm not sure I would rather have them at the moment. I'm not sure I really see the point of pouring work and effort into them and ruining my finances if I can't even compete! If I hadn't wanted to compete I'd have got a little native pony that I was too big to ride rather than stupid big horses which eat me out of house and home! Fatsos!! :D

OK, do you want to go dressaging at Milton on 27th? I'll cut down and pick you up provided you don't laugh at my attempt to take the new lad to a W&T test. Entries have to be in by Friday IIRC and I haven't done ss yet so let me know if you want to and I'll putmy money where my mouth is. Big mare and I are also doing dressage at Keysoe on 26th with spare space on lorry but I have no idea if it's RC only.

Keep at it missy - you'll get sorted at some point :)

For what its worth, I've been out a bit in the past (t-shirt, been there etc) and now feel extremely 'exposed' (as in not being able to transport to vets etc) as I dont/wont have transport, depsite being able to own a small lorry
By not having one its prob the only thing that is stopping me from over-doing anything with big Fuzzy and trying to have a quieter life :o

HEY! I have a little native I'm too big for

I ride him anyways 'cos I'm cruel like that though :o

Why not put an advert up in your local feed/tack shop or even preloved asking to share transport, a girl I know who was in the same situation as you did this and now gets out and about a couple of times a month and has made loads of new friends too.

I think you're like a knight in shining armour or something j_t :D I can't see dressage at Milton though? Am I being a spanner? Would love to blag a lift though if you're passing and you really don't mind.

And dh, if you're going jumping at crimbo and your dad is up for it will gladly bum a lift from you too. I'll even put tinsel on BH :)

I have just about managed to start saving now so perhaps by this time next year I'll be able to afford some crummy transport. My last job really screwed me over (6% pay cut within 6 weeks of starting) and it's taken me a long time to get straight (well, not straight but to stop getting more and more in to debt) especially since I took on BH as well!

Better ebay some more stuff to raise some funds :D

Transport woes are very frustrating.

How is Nitty's hock doing?

It actually, and I'm a bit scared to say this, looks pretty good at the moment. Although it may just be that it is covered by her yak like hair so I can't tell how huge it might be! How are your abscesses?

I meant more like a shetty or a section A really. I don't think yours counts as you clearly aren't too big for him!

Try telling him that! He keeps running up huge bills on the phone to horseline about how fat I am and how little he is

(Is it bad that I would definitely ride a shetland if I owned one, even though my feet would drag along the ground :o)

I'm so going to pay for saying this (she'll be hopping lame in the morning :p ) but it's looking really good. :)

Ok I need to get him out sj over winter. I just need to work on dad as I think its on christmas eve  but if we do go picking you up is no extra hassle as we normally go that way any way to aviod the fen roads. Then we can both ride pimped ponies covered in tinsel :D

Fingers crossed nittys hock keeps improving

I feel your pain.My eldest has just joined the Pony Club, but as I don't have any transport,we can't get to rallies unless we can cadge a lift, which I hate doing. The irony is,my dad has a landrover and cattle trailer sitting doing nothing nearby, but when I asked if we could borrow it occasionally, fretted about it and is currently umming and ahhing about taking us to a rally 4 miles away.

I'm old enough to not need to pass a trailer test, but am debating saving for a trailer, which means I'll have to sell my car and buy something big enough to tow with=more expense,or save for longer and try and get a small lorry and keep my old car for as long as possible.
