Sorry about this. I should Just be glad that he's still here, and he has nothing more serious wrong with him..:( I just feel so rubbish that he's not improving.
Jack trotted up lame again last weekend, and so all that he had done up until today was a bit of walking inhand.
I took him out for a hack today, just a quick plod down the road and back for a change of scenery. He very nearly span with me as we left the yard because of some plastic on the road, which was a lovely start. He hadn't been trying that on for a while, I thought he might have given it up  In hindsight, I wonder if he did it because he was sore somewhere.

He felt really stiff/inflexible although he was walking out okay,
I rode home and mum watched him trot up. His leg definitely wasn't the obvious problem, but he wasn't moving straight  It had improved by the time we got back to the yard (especially after being chased by a rogue pony :o) and he was pretty much fine, but he's never been like that before.. I'm gutted that I can't be giving him some more work because despite being on a tiny patch, and getting no feed, he is the size of a house with the attitude and ability to seek out trouble of a six year old... :(

Will I ever get my little cobby athlete back? :( It just seems to be one thing after another at the moment..)

I haven't read any previous threads I'm afraid, so sorry if I'm asking questions already answered. Did you get an official diagnosis of what is wrong with your boy? Or is it still something you have to get to the bottom of? :)

If you don't find a problem, it is really, really difficult to progress as you'll always be worried (paranoid) that there is something underlying.

Rhino, He got his leg caught in pig netting back in January and did some damage to his hock. The vet was convinced that it wasn't serious enough to scan or Xray so we box rested and walked in hand for just over six weeks until he was sound and turned him out for two weeks before starting to ride in walk again. We were building it up slowly, to about 15 mins of walk and trot but he had a little niggle so we gave him another week off before starting back with just 10 mins of walking daily and built up again... until the friday before last :( Very frustrating! I guess these things take time!

Yes, it could just be something that takes time, but I would be sorely tempted to get vet back out :( and possibly physio, if he was caught up and struggling in the netting.

Obvious things.. Any heat/swelling? Can you take some video of him trotting up and either ask some of the experienced lameness people on here or try and get your vet to watch?

As he's turned out, albeit in a small area, I would hazard a guess that it is more than just an underlying stiffness.

Fingers crossed it's nothing bad :)

You're right, thank you.
I should say he trotted up sound (while being watched by an experienced lameness person ;)) before I took him out with no tack or rider otherwise I wouldn't have done! It was more a wonkeyness and reluctance to walk straight when I got on.
Nope, no heat or swelling anywhere... I have become very paraniod about checking for it! I would have had the physio out before we first started riding again, however he wasn't actually showing any signs of needing it.. definitely not like today!

He might have just been having an off day.. or done something dim in the field again I hope? Actually, now you say about turnout, he stayed in last night for the first time in months. He completely trashed his stable which is very unlike him. He's not generally stiff after being in though, although that could explain things! I really hope so.
