My beautiful Oskar goes into surgery this morning to remove bone chips and repair a fractured splint bone. I dropped him off last night and he's supposed to be going under around 10am. I'm really nervous and would seriously appreciate some good vibes for my handsome boy.

I just hope he comes through ok - I'm not even thinking about recovery time or the future. I just want him home safely.

Good vibes heading your way - if it's any consolation my mates mare had a molar tooth removed under general anaethetic aged 24 and was absolutely fine

He will be back with you in no time
 
Loads of positive vibes on way to you. I am sure everything will go fine and your lovely boy will be home soon ready for you to spoil him....
 
Positive vibes being sent - my boy had a splint bone removed under GA last year and he is absolutely fine now. Here is a photo of him recovering at home.

He is back competing now by the way and is 14. He was very sore for a couple of weeks and really didn't want the drain removed but you can just about see the scar now and he is completely sound. I will be thinking of you as I know exactly what you are going through.
 
Madmare we have had two with this injury and both healed sound as a pound eventually.
We actually decided not to go down the op route as it was such a lot of money, and I poulticed bits of bone out of the mare's leg for three months as they worked their way to the surface. She healed with no visible sign and continued back in work after 6 months off.
The gelding was a two year old and we penned him in a tiny pen within the same field as the horses and kept moving the pen round the edges. (hard work carrying hay and water for months but he too healed) and passed a vet un-detected when we sold him. I checked with my own vet and he said he couldn't see any sign of the injury at all and as he had then been sound and in work as a four year old for six months he felt it pointless to say what happened two years previously.
I also know of two others who were operated on and they too came through it ok, but took a little longer to regain soundness.
Good vibes on their way, the greatest risk is the coming round after I think.. Fingers' crossed he is fine..

Thats very interesting to hear henryhorn. I'm glad to hear both of yours came back ok - it must have seemed endless at the time!

Luckily he's insured, and while I did discuss with the vets the options of avoiding the surgery, the decision was that it was the best course of action.

Will update when I hear. Many thanks again for everyone's kind words.
