JBM thanks for all the advice , has really helped put my mind at ease. He is already on pro/prebiotics because of antibiotics. Good idea re playpen. Hope you girl fully recovers soon.

Slightly different, I had a cat that lost a digit after my horse trod on his paw
it healed really well and the cat hadn't further issues with it. Fingers crossed it won't get to that point.

Final update. He has had the amputation and is healing really well. Histology showed it was cancer but his margins are clear so hopefully removing digit has cleared it. All his other bloods are excellent so they think it hasn’t spread. Vet very pleased with outcome and once the stitches are removed no further treatment

Her stitching is healed perfectly and looks great but she still on restricted movement as she had some pawpad damage on the other toes which will take a while to heal as she’s very heavy
