I don't post here very often (usually as by the time I've caught up on reading all the threads I don't have time!) but my dog Isa is currently at the vets and she could do with all the positive vibes I can get for her.

She has liver failure - we don't know why, and currently we don't know how bad it is either.

Hang in there girl.

Thank you xx

Thanks.

No news yet - they're doing a stomach acid test - they have to take some acid when her stomach is completely empty, so 12 hours after her last meal. They've done that, she now gets a lovely fatty dinner and they have to wait two hours and take more stomach acid. This will tell them how her liver is functioning (apparently).

So she's spending the night at the vets and is comfortable at the moment, and we'll know more later on.

LOL Viszlak ;)

CaveCanem, she's lost weight over the past week - she's eating normally, happy and active but just dropped a bit. I thought it might be the cold weather. Anyhow, we were at the field this morning and she collapsed - her legs just gave out. She got up again fairly quickly but she obviously wasn't quite 'all there' so I took her straight to the vets. They admitted her and made the diagnosis from blood tests.

We still don't know why - she's only four years old.

She's gone.

The tests showed she had complete liver failure, and overnight she started to show neurological damage too, from all the toxins in her system. When I saw her this morning, she was standing with her head pressed against the cage and she was very unsteady on her feet. She knew I was there, she focused on me a couple of times, but the rest of the time she stared off into the distance.

So she passed away in my arms at about ten thirty this morning.

The vet thinks it was a congenital condition, and she's asked if she can do an autopsy. I'm going to speak to her breeder too - firstly to let them know, and secondly to see if they've had any other incidences. It's all very well trying to create a new breed, but it's not very good if they're already starting to show signs of health issues!

Rest in Peace my beautiful, special girl xx

R.I.P Isa, go and play with Patch for me gorgeous girl.

All my thoughts are with you Jenna, at least she's no longer in pain and she had you there at the end xx
