Only tenuously competition riders but still...

Got to the yard this evening to find the side of my lorry has been trashed - can only assume someone has driven into it and not owned up

Can't be another livery as mine is the only lorry, and it's on the drivers side so I can't have done anything daft like drive into something and not notice it. V high up, massive gouge out of it and one of the panels by the window has been bent in off the rivets.

Other businesses run out of the place so I will be looking for tell-tale signs of blue paint. However no real chance of finding the culprit which means I have to cough up myself to get it fixed.

I am so cross!! I know it is only a scruffy old lorry but it is MY scruffy old lorry, I use it all the time, I take care of it and now this

It runs so well and is so low milage I am planning to get a new back put on the chassis at some point, but not for a long time as I have to save up, and now part of that money has to be spent on fixing it.

ETA: And the really bloody rubbish thing is I was out in it last night and did not get back till gone 9pm, so it has happened today at some point!

Can you put a note up? Or are you able to mention it to the employers of the businesses that run out of the yard? I wouldn't fork out for it yourself - someone else did it and you have to get to the bottom of it.

We had someone borrow our lorry a couple of years ago and drove it into a gatepost and it basically sliced open all the way along the lorry from front to back...and they didn't cough up...cue new lorry...

The same happened to me. I had left my box at the garage for it's MOT (It's a 3.5 ton) and when I picked it up it was dark. The next day i saw a great big gouge out of the side ramp but i couldn't do anything because i hed driven it home and so they could say it wasn't their fault!! I felt very disillusioned with human nature for a long time after!

Noooooo!

Is it still usable?

Yes, the horses will just have a bit more ventilation than normal on Thursday!! Not dangerous though as it is all above the rug rack thankfully. I guess at least I can still get to where I am going and sort it out in between events.

Thank god the weather is good for the next week!

Just wait a bit, maybe someone has left a message or note or will contact you tomorrow.

I really, really hope you are right. There is no way someone could have done it without noticing....

There's no-one to get annoyed at - so many people are in and out of the yard it could have been anyone
frown.gif
I'll never find out if they don't own up.

OMG!! Really feel for you!

Have just got my car back from the garage after a £350 pound service - with an estimate for £4,000 worth of repairs needed in the next 6 months (it is old and is only worth about £2000).!!!

Then next day I noticed a dent in the door, and a scrape on the wheel arch that def. weren't there when it went in!!!

OF COURSE the garage are not accepting liability!!!

Trouble is, now it affects trade in value!!!

There are no morals left in the world I fear

I hope you find yur culprit!!

possibly...if its a decentish make of car a garage might offer you a trade in if you are buying a significantly more expensive car as they know they can fix the faults at cost (its not going to cost them 4k to fix it really is it?!!)- williams bmw did this with me last year- had a mini that was worth about 4k, needed a new gear box and work they quoted at 3k but they gave me 3.5k on trade in as i was buying a 15k car....

Well, I will just have to suck it up - there is something on the yard at the right height which I could have hit it on - no paint on it or any new damage on it, but who will own up when that is there? No-one! And perhaps I did hit it in the dark the other night and did not realise? Always possible I suppose, and just as likely as any other explanation really.

OH reckons he can fix it, and the truck is still useable, plus if I did do it the horse was not on it at the time so I suppose it could have been worse.

I take it that it isnt worth claiming on your insurance? What a bummer some people can be so selfish!

Dunno - we'll see what the damage is! It may be worth it. I have such bad luck with lorries, with my last one the mechanic who was fixing it for me drove it into the roof of the walker at my old yard and then disappeared leaving me with an £800 bill to pay which I had to claim for on my insurance
frown.gif
I don't use that mechanic any more

K_O life is too short to give yourself a coronary over something which you have no control over - I may as well save the energy for the stuff I can do something about I reckon! There is enough of it after all...
