With my girl (who I love and is going NOWHERE!) now 21, Ive not been able to do as much competing as I would have liked.

So......

Here is the new one... VERY exciting as had my girl for 14years, so it will give her a bit of a retirement (well she will come out for the odd quadrille!) but here is the new jumper....

And, is it normal to feel a slight betrail to your old horse when you get another one?? xx

I wish you well with him, and yes, it is normal to feel a bit of a traitor.
 
Lol yeah i would think so, sometimes i'm sure mines is giving me evils even when i'm just speaking to the other horses i always feel guilty and tell him he's my special boy :L

I am feeling a little guilty having just purchase a youngster to start working with for when my 19 year old gelding decides he has had enough. My older boy is still out competing and enjoying life but I know that wont continue forever. I am trying to ensure he is still number one but the youngster demands more attention and work.

They are currently stabled either end of the yard and whichever stable I at the other horse is calling for my attention.
 
You must be really excited. You must be really excited. I know what you mean about the guilt thing. I had a sit on a friends horse and my horsey was watching, i felt terrible lol

She is 7 and has come straight from point to point track.

My friend and I are sharing her, I do not have the space at my yard for another.

She is SO intellegent and sharp- just like another Gem, but younger, narrower and a different colour!

Im still doing so much with Gem though- its just I almost feel guilty jumping her- even though she yanks my arms off and jumps about everywhere.... it will be nice to have another little project to be getting on with.

She is pretty though!!

She also has the largest ears, which I love as I always think that means they are honest (much like your Donks!!

She's lovely so pretty.
I'm looking for another pony at the mo for the same reasons you have Lucy is nearly 20 and i still hunt her atleast once a week and in the summer we do a bit of everything inclu endurance rides of up to and inclu 80km. I feel guilty as lucy is so special to me (I've had her 11 years). But i keep telling myself if i get another and she doesn't have to work so hard she will keep going for longer. Then I'm abit happyer and don't feel quite so guilty.
Big ears are good an old irish dealer i used to work for told me to buy horses with big ears cos it means they listen!!

Bless. It is really hard.

TBH i wasnt even looking, I had accepted the fact that I couldnt go to horse trials this summer and am having to fork out £££££££ for her to now have Equipack shoes (which are working great!) just to happily hack her.

But then I keep her ticking over in the arena (doing canter work & quadrille), then happily walking for miles and miles on hacks.

I had toyed with the option of loaning my girl out- but I was scared to death someone would hammer her (as she is still mentally so willing to do everything) I also dont want to loose control and I want to keep doing her each day.

My friend was given a horse from the track, I said id go have a look and we have both fallen for her.

so she is with us for the long haul!

It will work well as we both have our older ones and then her as a project which will allow us to get out and about on.

I couldn't bare to loan lucy out either she has had a hard life I rescued her from going to the meat man. I will keep her forever. Luckly i work with horses and my boss has said she doesn't mind me having 2. I just need to save up to get one now.
Well i wish you the best of luck with your new horse and many more happy years with your older one.

My sisters horse had little ears- I always told her they were not ears, they were devil horns! x
