Hello, i'm new on here and would love to see your dressage pics especially with grey horses. I'm hoping to do my first dressage comp next month and want to see what i'm letting myself in for

thanks all

Well I don’t have a grey and only compete unaffiliated, but here’s mine on my boys Bodey and Badger.

Edited to add: welcome to the forum and give it a go

it's great fun and you can get some great pointers and tips from the judges

yes exactly what I wanted, what colour did you go for with your grey, im going to be wearing black hat and jacket. Was wondering what colour numnah?

Well I normally wear my lucky tweed hacking jacket especially if it's at a ODE and a black or navy silk on my skull cap (although in the top pics i am wearing my multicoloured hat! lol) I have a blue jacket that I wear sometimes, just depends which i feel like
smile.gif
at unaffiliated they are more lenient about what colour you wear so long as you are nicely turned out, black should be fine
smile.gif
(remember first impressions count
smile.gif
)
As for nummnah's I usually use a black or white saddlecloth but i have used grey, i think so long as it's fairly plain and nothing like a bright orange or green
wink.gif
They allow horses names on the sides of saddlecloths as i have just had a white one with silver piping done at olympia with oscars name on the side and i will be using that in future

hope that helps?
P.s. it has taken 2 years and much sweat and tears to get him to be like this!

lol and you will come across a wide variety of people on all different horses and ponies at walk and trot and prelim level

oh hes beautiful i love his markings. Ive tried a white saddle cloth on my mare for my local annual show and it really didnt suit her as she is pure white (yellow at the mo tho, hehe)

Thanks

I hate using white numnahs too as it definitely shows up his yellowness. As i comptete at BE and BD though i have to really.

At unaff and local stuff you can use black though which i think looks much smarter on greys.

thank you oscars mum, thats very encouraging. I have only had a my girl for 6 months and i finally feel ready to start some small comps, its exciting stuff

thank u, i have just bought a black saddle cloth with silver piping, i have black tack so hopefully it will look ok, oohh im getting excited now, i better start practising x

My mare is dapple grey, there's a dressage pic of her in my sig. I use a white saddle cloth which I think looks fine, I do think it's traditional to use white in dressage, not compulsory though. Good luck with your dressage

Here is my cob (we normally show, but do dressage as well):

As you can see, I wear navy (better for ladies, and I think less harsh against a grey) and I have a champagne coloured saddle cloth. I have seen lemon, which also looks good on greys.

Seeing as you're giving me an excuse to post pictures, here you go. Chilli doing dressage (we're not great at it, we showjump really)...

Apologies for the dreadful position in that one but I never did really master sitting to that trot

And, btw, the tails in all of them aren't because I'm a grand dressage person (as you may be able to tell

) but I'm an eventer and these were all taken at 3 days...
