Bit silly but a friend and I are having a friendly debate about which colours represent which placings. I need photo evidence to show that I'm right ? and that it goes red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple.

(it's honestly very lighthearted! ?? Google isn't being much help unfortunately ?)

yellow 3rd green 4th. I’ve gotten red for a first but was 10 years ago.

ETA I thought 6th was pink?
swear I’ve gotten a brown one once too ?

The Royal Internation has blue 1st, red 2nd.

For the shows I have run the racehorse show went - red, blue, yellow, green, orange, pink.

Shetland show (amongst my menagerie of colours for each section ??) was red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple. They were only purple 6ths because the rosette maker fd up and didn't pay attention to my request that they be pink! I HATE the colour purple!

Normal shows its
1st - red
2nd - blue
3rd - yellow
4th - green

beyond that tends to be fairly random!
Here are a selection i have in my lounge.

ETA i will have a dig round tomorrow and see if i can find any lower placed ones. Though they are likely to be from showing the dogs, we don’t do nearly as well with the dogs as we do with the pony.

was always red and blue for first and second then yellow and green for third and fourth and then pink for participation in clear rounds ? (only ever got third and fourth rosettes when doing showing or working hunter)

Quite a few of the shows in south west have blue as 1st, red as 2nd.
Depends on their tradition I'd guess. (Bath and West was one of them - don't know if that's still the case haven't been for a few years)

In the USA it is blue, red, white and yellow.

I had a big old HUH moment when I first read a British pony story and red was first.
US is:

1st = blue
2nd = red
3rd = yellow
4th = white
5th = pink
6th = green
7th = purple
8th = brown
9th = Grey
10th = light blue

...not that I've ever been important enough to be in a class that placed beyond eighth. ?

I’m with you, but looking at my rosettes it seems my local centre goes red, blue, green, yellow, pink, purple. I remember being disappointed to come 3rd one day but from the distance the rosette looks like a 4th.
Another venue I went to were all blue except first which was red.

I went to a show a good few years ago now with Gray where all of the rosettes were white. The only difference between the places was what was written on them. I would have been losing the plot as a steward! They were also the most chavtastic, tacky rosettes I have ever won! I won 2 classes and the Championship. The champion rosette nd sash were covered in see through gold ribbon and black tartan ribbon. They were truly horrific!

3rd = yellow
4th = white

Thank you for correcting me on the order. Can you tell it has been a while since I've placed in anything?

I like that! I've been doing dogs for so long I don't remember anything beyond the first four places and the green ribbons for qualifying. This is not bragging for the most part, my dogs have won so many rosettes I sent a bunch to a group that had intellectually disabled children run experienced agility dogs and give rosettes. Since the things are more expensive than flat ribbons I now explain to the clubs that I appreciate them but please keep them to use for another class/trial.
p.s. some of my dogs placed because they were good but most placed because they qualified because I actually trained them.

That is too funny! I've seen some butt ugly rosettes in my time never ones as tacky as that!

I’ve had red and blue interchangeable for first and second, and had green for third and white for fourth at BSPA shows. I only have a few framed, all the others which mean something are stacked in a glass orchid pot with cling film over the top to stop the dust getting in. There’s a variety of colours for 5th and 6th!9AD7EA5E-A2CA-4C66-9383-0BAD65BBC83C.jpeg0CB4EC4B-C218-457B-8555-5176E89B7886.jpeg5A5116CC-3D16-498C-8300-58D116AA9ADB.jpegDAF303E9-5D29-4895-9DA3-2BA28902BFDC.jpeg

The county shows did seem to do blue for first with red for second. There are so many variations now and does seem quite popular to all be one colour with the placing written on them. Am wondering if may be some extra fancy Queen’s Jubilee ones this year had some fab ones for the silver jubilee.

Red 1st
Blue 2nd
Yellow 3rd
Green 4th
Pink or orange 5th
Purple 6th

Then those white ones for special, well done, highly commended.

Clear rounds: anything goes!!!!

Champion: blue red and White.

These are from horse and dog showing.
