I had an e-mail from a lady last night with a gorgeous cleveland bay x for loan. Wonder if mum and hubby would notice if I got a 3rd! Lol

Amazingly I have known a few people who have managed to hide a third horse from their hubby for quite a long time! I think the funniest one was when their child sat being good in the car wondered out lout "I wonder if Mummy's new horse likes polos?" :o :D

Is it a similar colour, and is your husband horsey?

If the answers are yes and no, it's a total goer.

I'm currently looking for a Shetland/small pony for the baby - husband has no idea and as he rarely goes near the fields where the horses live he's unlikely to find out until it's too late :D
If I asked it would be a flat NO! Which is why in not asking ;)

not easily. I tried that one a few years ago, and managed with 2 jobs, 2 sharers and a helpful YO to keep 3, the 3rd I had for about a year before the OH realised, and when he suspected his response was if you have got another equine I am leaving.... I sadly parted with the 3rd, as by this time I had lost my sharers and was about to loose the second job and didn't want to loose the OH

Yeah, just say you are 'looking after it for a friend for a few weeks' and then your OH and mum will get used to the idea. Then say your friend cant have it back so you offered to keep it a bit longer x :D:p

What i did with my dog!!

My field used to be quite a distance from the house, I simply bought grey/white ponies, when you have 4 or 5 running around it is quite easy to say to a non-horsey OH "Oh, THAT one, been here for ages, he's just shed out a lighter colour!";)

Nowadays, with the horses all around the house OH knows when a new one appears, what he doesn't always know is if I own it or it is a Boarder ;) The easiest way to sneak a new one in is like this : :D I've managed two this way in the last 10 days.

Sooo cute!

Hubby wouldn't be non the wiser except the extra livery going out each month but mum might be a bit harder as she shares Lady with me.

I've just obtained a third , OH is non the wiser, although I've dropped plenty of hints but he's not interested in horses so just sort of nods and changes the subject ( maybe he does no really but just doesn't want to properly know?) .

I have just tried to do this. Had a youngster delivered whilst OH out of the way. Put it in the top yard which is empty at the moment.

OH noticed, can't understand why, after all it should be easy to hide this shouldn't it ?? I told him it was a holstien cow and suggested he went to specsavers !!

When my mum has ever got another one without telling my dad & he found out she used the excuse 'I did tell you, but you clearly wasn't listening to me' :p, but now he just doesn't care as he know we don't listen lol
